I'm trying to study some recent theories of Communism, and one that keeps coming up is Bob Avakian's (head of the RCPUSA) "New Synthesis". The RCPUSA has been pretty cryptic about it, so I was wondering if anyone here had any familiarity with it? What's it about? How does it differ from basic Marxist theory?

Any info you have would be appreciated...

To answer your question (could someone explain it?): I doubt it.

Does it keep coming up? In things by who, the RCP? I fancy Bob Avakian is the only one who knows what New Synthesis is, and even he must be confused. To cut a long story short, it's nonsense.

hahaha, they are not cryptic about it, they just can't/don't write in an accessible way.

i went to a RCP reading group once, the new synthesis seemed to me to be marxist theory written with new buzzwords like " a solid core with lots of elasticity" which is basically the vanguard/cadre.

So the consensus so far is that the "New Synthesis" is just some RCPUSA ploy to look cutting edge?
