I went to the recent one in Oakland. It was good, but not great, but it was the first one and for all i know some really awesome stuff will be sparked by the discussions there.

One more reason why I want to get my master's degree in Portland. Where I live there are like no Anarchist groups.

Again, for those Portlanders here on the forum, this is tonight at 6pm (till about 8pm) at BlackRose infoshop. This is an open call-out.

Success! I thought it went very well. I liked a lot of the project proposals and there was a lot of willing to be dedicated people present.
We should get (and this was briefly brought up) a west coast council system set up for communication between, say, Seattle to the Bay area. I personally don't just want to see what's up on the news I want to meet with and talk to organizers from elsewhere.

I couldn't be there and I regret it deeply. I like the council idea.

Yes to this. I think we should all be discussing how to bring west coast radical communities closer together in action and communication of goals. I'd like it to be non-sectarian (cringe) if possible.
To those Portlanders who couldn't make it/didn't know it was happening- if you want to get involved check the Portland IMC page more often (yeah I know picking through the sillyness is irritating at times but good stuff is still posted).

In oakland the format was general discussion of the proposals after folks made the proposals. unfortunately, maybe because people weren't inspired, the discussion ended up being entirely theory based. One dude said that an anti-austerity campaign was doomed to fail because it was so similar to the anti-globalization/anti-free trade movement of the past, which failed to. At this point maybe 50-75% of the discussion was in response to this, "tactics over time".
