Who rides bikes? What kind? Post pictures etc

My bike was getting some work done to it but its finally done and I get to pick it up today, the good news is, the guy at the bike shop said all he wants me to pay him is a case of beer.

Assuming that you mean bicycles rather than motorbikes, I got one recently. Its awesome, gets me to all of the local places I need to go at half the speed it takes to walk, is great exercise and means I don't have to pay for public transport which is a rip off.

A totally unremarkable Triax with way too many speeds. I accidentally had it in low range and shifted to 6th or 7th and Snap! went the chain. Fortunately, right in front of a bike shop. :)

Maybe I'll take a pic.

Excuse me, but fixies are stupid.

I ride a bike that can change gears and has decent brakes.

1) Its whats cool right now you're clearly jealous.

2) Constant pedaling as opposed to pedal/coasting is better exe

Ah fuck it, the first reason is enough.

Especially since your second reason was stupid. A bike is a mode of transportation, not a workout machine.

I have one bike like psycho's first, and then I have an awesome seventies racebike with cowhorn steering wheel and oldschool gearsystem.
My bike is clearly cooler then yours ánd it's cheaper and less annoying to drive.
I'll find a camera and take a picture later.

EDIT: psycho, awesome second bike

I doubt it was cheaper. Well I mean, anybody can find a deal, I have a $500 bike, but only paid $230 for it. And I mean, I just gave a friend a Raleigh road bike frame for free, so if they buy some low cost wheels ($50) and some simple handle bars and pedals ($75) and a cheap crank ($30) they could have a decent fixie for $155. Even less if they bought used or traded stuff to the guys at the bike shop.

I think its ridiculous to pay as much as most trendy kids pay for their fixies and single speeds. But all of us around here build our own and hunt for parts/buy used/barter to get good bikes cheaper.

I don't find the fixed gear annoying to ride, just different. And I like watching other people try to ride it.

A bike is a mode of transportation, not a workout machine.

I was clearly making a joke. But actually, my main motivation for riding more is to loose weight, otherwise I would continue to bum rides and call taxis.

I doubt it was cheaper.
I got it for zéro euro from my uncle:D

The other one is a second hand, I bought for 50 euro.

The fact that you made it yourself makes it a bit cooler,
but fixies are still stupid,
why not make the extra effort and get some brakes and a gearchanger (is that the right word)?

The Douche

Well I don't particularly feel the need for brakes, I can ride efficiently enough to slow and stop in traffic, but you can mount brakes on a fixie.

The appeal of the fixed gear or single speed bikes is that they're lighter and sleeker than traditional road bikes.

OK, I rode my bike AND remembered to take a picture!

The front spring thing is nice. Way less bumpy than other bikes.
And it's got a nice place to put my thermos.
But I wish I still had the 3 speed Ross I grew up with.
