obviously it wouldn't be called Marxism but there was still socialism and the seeds of communism and someone would have written about capitalism but maybe not drawn as complete a picture. We'd probably be in a much worse situation as there would be no one to critique the Proudhons, Blanquis or Bakunins and those types of people. We'd probably be even more sectarian than we are now. Although who knows maybe we'd be Englesists doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it?:)

Probably something similar to Marxism would be theorized due to Historical Materialism and the search for a replacement of Capitalism.

If he wasn't, socialism would have probably been refined by a French philosopher, meaning it would have been even more difficult
