Obviously i don't have the level of conviction necessary to vanquish them, i'm now trying some gummy bear therapy.. with conflicting results

What always works for me is to gulp when I feel a hiccup coming. If it doesn't work the first time, keep gulping until it stops. Try to time it right as the hiccup bellows forth.

Have someone frighten you. Obviously you have to wait until you're not expecting it, but it works.

I usually hold my breath and drink big gulps of liquid. I get hiccups mostly when I'm quite tipsy, but then having hiccups just makes me look like I'm hammered.
Allow me to introduce you to the Hiccup Trick. If someone has hiccups, all you have to do to remedy it is to look at them and say to them 'I've got the hiccups, hic hic hic'. It may sound silly, but it seems to work. Seriously, of all the hiccup cures suggested to me, this is the one that I have found to stand up best to empirical evaluation. Who cares why it works, it just does.
