Islamophobia on Weeds?

Anyone watch the show Weeds? The last episode was even called "A hole in her niqab" had a rather crude scene taking place in an Afghanistan pot growing operation, involving discussion of oral sex through a hole in a woman's niqab and the scene ends with the guy's wife coming in angry with a bomb strapped to her chest, blowing the place up. This is included because it's supposed to be a "glitch in the system" preventing Nancy from having more supply of pot.

It was just so stereotypical and offensive, over the top and out of place in the show. I can handle the sexual themes in a show like that, but it wasn't a good idea to portray Afghans or Muslims that way....how did that shit get out of the writing room and onto the screen, I don't have any idea...I guess they think it's okay because there's a war in Afghanistan, that just makes it worse because it's now propaganda aiding a certain depiction of Afghans.

The reason that they insult Muslims is because over here its easy. People do it all the time while the entire country cheers it on. And if you have anything to say against that; they'll reply with 9/11. Even the trendy liberal crowd like Mahr likes to poke fun at their current state often times leading to the perception that the people of the Middle East and so on are inferior to those of the west. And there's just no stopping it here. What really sucks is that although I've never seen the show weeds before, I thought it was about some pot dealers in the US. How exactly did they implicate Afghanistan and why did they just have to put in a suicide bombing to reinforce the jingoists in this country.

That seemed in poor taste to say the least, but after my reading of the first season summary on wikipedia I can't contain my surprise at your having tolerated the show all the way up to that point!
