If it gets far enough the supreme court will shoot it down.

Indeed. Similar shit is going down in a small town in Arizona, where a woman was arrested for speaking at a public hearing, and the mayor was ignored... white people on city councils... sketchy.

The mayor in AZ was not only ignored, the council in an secret meeting declared an state of emergency, ousted the mayor and installed the chief of police in his place.
At least that's what's said in the comments of the arkansas article in the o.p.

Yeah I read that. There was a thread here on the woman being ousted from the meeting in AZ, but when you think about that coupled with this nonsense in AK, city councils are really looking more reactionary than they have in a while (at least to my reference).

Two city councils in small towns? I wouldn't worry to much. How many city councils are there in the US? A quick browse of wikipedia says 19,429 municipal governments and 16,504 "township" or "town" governments.
The actions are in clear violation of the right to assemble and freedom of speech, no court will allow them to stand.

it is definitely interesting though.
also, down in one of the conservative counties in CA recently there was a local government that was siphoning hundreds of thousands of dollars from public coffers.

I wouldn't call it the seeds of fascism, but rather a point where we can show the lack of benevolence of the oh so nice local government, and possibly get people up in arms about this kind of crap and really start a movement against all of these new laws germinating.

They are forcing a confrontation that these town councils are going to have a real hard time arguing any type of moral high-ground. This is what sets the stage for violent uprising if the courts don't stop it (or can't stop it).

The seeds of fascism were planted in this country not in Arkansas is 2011, but with Richard Nixon-Gerald Ford in the 1970's, and carried on with Ronald Reagan in the 1980's. Bill Clinton did his part as well, with equal amounts or more injunctions against numerous labor unions during his tenure.

What the hell are they scared of anyway? It's not like there's a big, bad revolution in their sight.
And pulling shit like this will only make it more likely.
