Hi Comrades, I'm Miri
I live in the UK where I'm currently a student
I'm an anarcho-pacifist but I'm fairly new to anarchism and I have yet to communicate with anyone who shares my views, so if anyone out there's also an anarcho-pacifist (or an anarchist of any sect), I'd love to talk.
Other causes I'm passionate about are fair trade, freedom of migration (or lack there of) and genetic engineering (I believe it should be allowed, as genetic disorders/diseases can ruin lives)
I believe that anarchism can help all these causes and many more.
People who inspire me are people such as Tolstoy, Bove (I know I've spelt that wrong but I don't know how to insert accents) and Blake.
I know that, to some, Blake may stand out in this list (as he is not a self-proclaimed anarchist) but I admire his attitudes to society's rules and expectations as well as his outstanding work.
As I mentioned before, I am still a student (one year left to go at school) but I hope to work for a charity some day, as I feel it's important to help people less fortunate than myself and to help those that my own society has harmed.
My hobbies include sailing, hiking and reading (a mixture of philosophical, political and pleasure reading (I love Austen)).
I'd really like to get to know some of you and I hope we have many debates ahead!

Welcome. We have a rather large anarchist group on revleft http://www.revleft.com/vb/group.php?groupid=2 (the largest on the boards) as well as a decent sized grouping of anarcho-pacifists http://www.revleft.com/vb/group.php?groupid=428. May I ask why you are a pacifist? Most on the boards reject pacifism as dangerous to the movement because it equates the actions of the oppressed with those of the oppressor and we see it as an endorsement for such.

I think that violence causes negative stereotypes of anarchists and does the cause more harm than good.
I also think that an important aspect of anarchism is that people can be trusted to live responsibly without being forced to abide by unnecessary laws and I feel that violence has the exact opposite message.
I'm not against breaking the law if it would help the cause, I just believe that violence isn't the best way forward
Thanks for the links

Hi :)
I'm not a pacifist, but I am an anarchist. You, however, do make some good points about the perhaps unforeseen consequences of violence. That's something I struggle with, personally.
Glad you're here.

how far does your pacifism go?

Welcome. Fuck that haters. Using violence to achieve your dream government and thereby forcing it onto others completely defeats the freedom part of anarchism (I think it was Tolstoy who said that in a much better way than I did). Now that's not to say that a little vandalism of government and corporate property is a bad thing.
