Like forensics people that work for cops and stuff, I'm not really familiar with how they relate to cops, but I assume it's just as bad?

Usually they work at murders, so I can't see them being as oppressive as other cops.

Considering they just perform tests given to them by law enforcement, they can't hold biases (or at least not ones that will affect results). There are examples of foresic scientists changing results or forging evidence to convict, but on the whole they are not an oppressive group. The work with DNA in crimes has probably freed more people than convicted.

No most cases rely on forensic evidence these days. Whether it's assault or burglary or whatever if they can use forensics then they will.
It's an interesting point though as they wouldn't be called in to put down dissent and they aren't really used at all to oppress the working class. On the other hand though if you're in the army cooking core you're still in the army as they can't do their jobs without you, same thing kind of applies to CSI's.

The Police aren’t “bad” per se, they’re just instruments of class oppression.
Police Officers would still be around during the Transitional Socialist Phase: They’d just be used for maintaining peace and fighting tangible (victim) crimes.

lolwut? That's exactly the reason they are bad. On an individual basis I'm sure there are decent cops, but their occupation is that of defending private property and the bourgeoisie.

Like I said, they'd be used for fighting real crime.

I would also say that existing institutions of the state like the police should be immediately disbanded and replaced where necessary. The corruption within these institutions are too endemic to be left alone or "fixed".

I was under the impression that forensics isn't the exact definitive science as it is portrayed in the media and cop friendly shows.
Also, the law enforcement institution compels cops to be "bad". Individually I am sure there are some decent cops that believe in helping their community but overall the institution itself keeps those cops at a minimum.

RadioRaheem hit it on the head. For example, even fingerprints, treated in pop fiction as sure-fire proof, could only be correctly identified by experts in a controlled test like 60% of the time.

Could it not be said that they are complicit in the oppression of the proletariat, in that they help law enforcement imprison the working class?
