It is the oppression that connects us for real"

"You once said that the American flag to black people represents the same thing that the swastika represents for the Jews.
Griff: Black people went through a holocaust under that flag"

I see that very critical, the holocaust was something different, more cruel so you can´t compare these two things, to set the american flag in one level with the swastika, you set the cruelty of the holocaust a level lower!

But is it, if you take each person individually, someone who has seen a familly member murdered goes through the same pain, be it at the hands of a nazi thug or a corporate thug...

Indeed, I'm not sure that you can compare the two, both diffrent periods of time, although both based on something as seemingly superficial as race or religion.
But I'm not sure that's what Griff is doing there, people who have been beaten, shot, and thrown in jail becuase of the color of their skin are bound to harken back to those who 200 years ago were being murdered and enslaved because of the same reason. And as you look at that you notice the numbers and how big this system was you ask yourself how many people were dead under this system and I think that's where he gets the idea of a holocaust.
