Juan Maria Bordaberry, the former dictator of Uruguay has died at the age of 83.
Bordaberry was elected as President of Uruguay back in 1971 and declared matrial law and ruled by decree from 1973 until he was replaced with a military junta in 1976. His regime was guilty of numerous human rights abuses and was known for collaborating with the dictatorships of South America in abusing human rights and crushing political dissent.
He was placed under house arrest in 2006 for his crimes.
