Do you have lots of money? Are your front teeth made of platinum? Do you have a Cadillac truck with 22's on it? I guess the only reason these rappers get away with that shit is because they have money which makes it acceptable to other people. But it definitley doesn't make it right!

It's not that you're wrong, society has grown to accept these things as okay. When this happened I must have been in the bathroom or something but it has come to pass as such. But the word ***** isn't gener exclusive either, men can be *****es and whores like anyone else, of course it's also accepted if not excepted for men to be man-whores and other such humerous adjectives that involve sleeping with a lot of people and unfortunately it's not taken as seriously. But I also think that involves a larger culture that they're brought up in, not that that makes it acceptable.
But they don't get away with everything also. They come under scruinty when a rapper comes out with a song like "Fuck the police" or "Cop Killer" of course that's only when they attack the system that this happens and not with the general vulgarity of the music that degrades women.
I wonder why.......

Actually, rapping about their pants can't be far off, I mean, Nelly had that song that was ALL about shoes.

I find this interesting when you realize when Eric Clapton's version of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" came out no real problems with it. But when "Cop Killer" and "Fuck the Police" come out it created a media circus. And many many country songs have lyrics against women about as strong as those in some rap songs, again no real contraversy. I think race plays the major factor in music censorship and scrutiny.

Rap today is like what Heavy Metal Hair bands were in the 80's. Treats women like shit and glorifies the empty existence of capitalism and consumerism.
Rappers are the real ho's now.

no you did not.....
just make fun of kris kros. go listen to JUMP. right now. go get it. dig it out of your tape collection. that's my joint. that's my jam. JUMP.
but yeah rappers are the hos nowadays. that industry is dominated by idiots and douche bags that leak all over the media. don't listen to rap.
listen to hip hop
go to okayplayer.com and write down the names of all the artists. then get some of their music. its real.
but even common and talib and blackthought will call people *****es. '*****' is a word that has evolved though. it can and is most often used in a non mysoginistic way just as 'nigger' is used most often not racist. you can't just say someone hates women because they use the word *****. ***** was being used in rap to refer to men as far back as 94 in tupac's stickly for my n.i.g.g.a.z. the song is 'fake ass *****es'. it probably goes back farther than that. in fact i'm gonna research right now with some chronic and some chronic. i'll get back to you... :redstar2000:
if a girl is a ***** i'd call her a *****.
if a guy is a ***** i'd call him a *****.
don't let people's perceptions dictate how you use your language. say what you want to say and how you want to say it. fuck them other fools.

Oh please.....don't give me this Lenny Bruce crap that if you repeat a word several times it will lose its strength. It is used in reference to women and at its most benign it is foul language.

I'd have to agree with the common response here - it's not alright, but what you said isn't right either.
Yeah; grab a Mos Def, Talib, Dead Prez or any other actual rappers tape - good stuff (most of it).

Wow Hampton, that is awesome. I wish I could make that my avatar.
It would be even better if it were an animated Tupac doing the Humpty dance.
Have you ever seen the footage of Tupac with Digital Underground when he is doing the Humpty dance in a line ? Good stuff.

Oh Yeah,
If you want to know why calling women *****es has becomes so commonly accepted in main-stream culture; just look at what it does to women around you.
Personally I have noted that it helps build an attitude amongst the males, that they are somehow more righteous than the women and are allowed to generalize them by the flaws of a few.
Amongst the women it help them mentally repress themselves to actually belive that all a woman can do to get up in society, is bassically be a cock-sucking, coffee serving, secretary.
If you want to know why rappers so commonly use the term "*****es", just understand that there genuinly is a time and place to reffer to "A WOMAN" (and just let me stress "A WOMAN") a "*****", which most certainly does NOT include when you see a goup of women walking down the street.
Maybe to help you understand just what warrants calling a particular woman a *****, listen to the song "Wonder Why" by Tupac.

Try listening to the tracks from the Jedi Mind Tricks CD "The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological, and Electro-Magnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness".
As you can see from the cd title and from the names of the songs (The Apostle's Creed, The Immaculate Conception, Neva Antiquated) this is not your regular, dumb-ass hip-hop. This is the underground, comrades.
Also try Non Phixion, Mr. Lif and Aesop Rock.
"The master herein
the ominous, the master spirit
can't understand the language of rappers with bad lyrics
Ikon the python, rappers are left strangled
I overlook the Earth cause I see it from sun's angle
Above the clouds we sit high and we daze, write a page, on how you enslaved the worldly ways."

Gotta agree with you guys about the decline of good rap acts, but just like anything pure that people relate to, business men will eventually buy it outright (I just saw a coke commercial with a moshpit in it). But there are still some good acts out there, like some of Talib Kweli and the Roots's stuff. And I'm sure there are others out there that I haven't heard of, as rap's not really my bag, baby.

Like Ziggy being stolen by Pepsi.
I tried to find a link, but this was the closest t'ing I could find. Oh well (http://www.saveourculture.com/revelation.html)
edit:on second thought, this site looks pretty anti-Ziggy to me.

yeah, I would say so......Have you read the post by BuyOurEverything in the section Music > Lyrics, its about page 11 or twelve and is followed by my rebuttal. But you are specifically mentioned. I don't know, man, what some will think, but we'll be forever lovin Jah.
Poor Ziggy though. Him doing the theme song for "Arthur" was one thing, but doing the pepsi thing, and what your link also says, is very different....
