Hello everyone!
Not a huge fan of talking about myself so I will keep this brief. I have a bachelor of arts degree with a double major in Political Science and English and am currently applying for graduate school for political science. I am also keeping my future open for a potential law degree.
I first became interested in communist theory after taking an introductory philosophy course (a field which in which I ultimately ended up minoring) and reading The Communist Manifesto, Alienated Labor, and Critique of the Gotha Program. I was immediately struck by the rich complexities of a school of thought that I, up until that point, had been all too unaware of (save for the unsavory introduction to Marx I was given in high school). Nevertheless, I must say that, while the work in itself was altogether enlightening, combined with the amazing manner in which the material was presented and interpreted by my professor, the course became life-altering. I have since found out that the professor who taught this course is involved in more right wing politics, but I am forever indebted to him and the intellectually honest and critically engaging manner in which he presented Karl Marx.
Well, that's enough about me!

Welcome!
I'm new myself, but from the little that I have seen of this place I can tell that it is a great learning resource, since it sounds like you are interested in further developing your knowledge of this sect of politics.

Welcome to RevLeft! I'll enjoy reading your future posts, you seem like a very intelligent individual. Have you chosen a tendency yet?

Thanks for the welcomes. I hope that I can aid in the discussion that occurs on this forum. No, I haven't picked a tendency yet. My background is heavily theoretical and focused on the works of classic philosophers and thinkers with a major emphasis on Marx. I haven't really read into a lot of the political thought of modern revolutionary figures, with the exception of Che Guevara. My interests generally lie in Latin American politics and LA social movements, such as those of the Zapatistas and the movements in Bolivia. I am undoubtedly a Marxist; nevertheless I do a lot of my own theoretical work as well. As such, i am not really sure how to refer to my tendencies.

Hey, nice to meet you:), although it feels a bit weird for me to be greeting you considering how much more you know about communism. So, according to your profile, you like to play hockey. What position do you play? (I'm just a hockey fan, unfortunately. Not so great at playing.)

Don't be silly, I don't claim to know everything about communism and I am sure that there is much we can learn from one another!

I regards to your question about hockey, I play left wing. Definitely my favorite thing to do outside of studying. I am glad there are some other left wing hockey fans out there!
