I have a serious addiction for anything with sugar in it, and so far the only solution i found to deal with it is to completely stop, i cant control myself if i start consuming sugar.
is it actually possible to learn how to moderate the consumption of something you are addicted to, or is it impossible?

Do you have diabetes or a weight problem? Otherwise I don't believe it is a health threat.
I'm diabetic and I try to substitute spenda for sugar in most recipes. I'm a total sweet addict too :(
Maybe someone will give us both some pointers to wean off of the sweet stuff.

i spent all my money on booze and chinese food purchased after consuming said booze and now i have no money to buy more booze so i've kicked booze for several days. not sure this is a good strategy

You need to implement some pre-planning comrade. Next time the boozing urge hits you, buy several cartons of ramen noodles. Still cheaper than a chinese meal and once you are past a certain point in drinking. . .everything tastes the same. AND, you have more money to buy booze instead of having to spend it on chinese food. The cartons of ramen will last you several binges and doesn't go bad. Good for instances of unexpected revolution or a zombie apocalypse also.
Okay, I don't think this really helped much.

i've had too many times of living off ramen noodles and hot dogs to eat either again for at least a decade. pasta and whatever sauce is usually my drunk snack but i haven't made it to the grocery store so...

well, its not so much about being a threat to my health, i just cant control myself when i start eating sugar, i always need more, and ultimately i become a sugar filled machine, sugar make me tired, so i take more sugar to stay awake, its a vicious circle.

I'm afraid there is no moderating an addiction. Alcoholics can't drink socially, junkies can't use recreationally, and I can't eat gummi bears without consuming the entire bag.
I think, if you can moderate, you don't have an addiction.:)

Don't go cold turkey. Cut down less and less each time. When you buy sugary goods, try to buy less of them, and continue buying less and limiting yourself when you have them.

I have an issue with Altoids Smalls that are sugar free.
I constantly have to have them, and when I stop I get an headache which usually goes away quickly.
If you haven't, go to the store and buy a small pack of Altoid Smalls sugar free to see what im talking about.

Not buying works best this way there is no temptation unless you are willing to go out late at night to get that bag of chips and that is something i never feel like doing.

well there is a spectrum from "abuse" to "addiction" i think. you can moderate and still potentially have a problem

Very true, especially considering when you run out. That's when moderation you see was just a steady fixed addiction.
Like, I am now out of Altoids Smalls... and I really want some but no ride and their expensive as hell.

eat protein to neutralise your blood sugar and drive down the craving and drink a lot of water to flush it out of your system- then if you have to have something sweet eat some fruit - probably sounds like not a solution but it works - :)

Chewing gum helps kill appetite, plus it is sugary!

Drake's coffee cake are the bane of my existence so I understand where you are coming from. I always try to stop eating sugar and I do fine for most of the day till I get home from school and work and I just want a tall glass of milk and something sweet.
Your best option is to remove junk food from your house and replace it with healthier sources of sugar. Like fruit, although it doesn't give you quite the fix sweets would over time it does help replace it.

I never use sugar, only Hermesetas. It doesn't give you the kick sugar does but it tastes just as good and cures a sweets craving...temporarily, until your brain realizes it's been tricked. :D
