Blanquism

Can someone give me a more detailed description, or a link to a more detailed description of Blanquism/Blanquists. From what I understand it's basically the belief that a political minority can seize power or something like that.

In a modern context blanquisn can refer to revolutionary-minded folks whose strategy relies on not being "out" about their revolutionary identity goals or theory while organizing. At least at some stage. I believe this leaves us open to quick defeat by red scare, and that we should instead raise the red flag and see what comes under it. Most ML organizations do not rely on the strategy of blanquism.

I believe it's indeed a minority group of professional revolutionaries or some small vanguard that rise up, a coup d'etat/putsch occurs, etc.

Although no actual Blanquist movement exists now, it is worth noting that Guevarism/focoismo shares a lot of features with the original Blanquism, such as the cult of revolutionary minority (which is not based on the assumption of the existence of the relatively mass vanguard party, as in classical Leninism), an ultimate substitutionism (with the proviso that for the masses to rise a small and dedicated revolutionary vanguard should be present to lead them), and the strategy based on the military activities of small guerrilla/insurgent groups instead of the involvement in the existing mass movements.
