I absolutely hate doing introductions. So I'm just going to throw something together here.
I'm from Austin, Texas. The leftist scene here is pretty bangin', but I'm not able to be terribly active in it. I try to participate as much as I can, but I don't have a lot of free time, and I don't have my own transportation, but I still try to do as much as possible.
I guess if I had to place myself in a branch of the left, I'd call meself an anarcho-communist. My history with the left started when I was a kid--my mom joined a labor union and my dad flipped out. I asked my dad what he was so upset about, and he told me what labor unions were. My mom's a generic social liberal and my dad is a libertarian (also an alcoholic and a homophobe and a general jackass--coincidence? I'll leave that up to you). I was a generic democrat kinda guy until I met a friend a couple years ago who was a leftist on a bus ride. We talked about communism for like six hours, and the next day, I went out and got some key leftist literature and since then, it's been love at first sight.
I'm not sure how much I can/should share about what I enjoy doing outside of leftism, so I'll stop it here. But I already enjoy this place :]
