Hey Guys. I am from Minnesota (a state in the USA). The leftist scene here is not huge. Mostly anarchists, I think, and there's a CWI segment. There does seem to be a lot of co-operatives (like disporportionately large quantity for the size of the state). not all worker-owned, but some. There is a little bit of history of left populism here, in the form of the Farmer-Labor party (influenced by the scandinavian socdems, i think, so not that radical). It has since been integrated into the democratic party (DFL, here). At any rate, the days of any left party actually having power in this state are over.

I am currently not certain which branch of leftism I'm most pursuaded by. It's a tough decision. I like the idea that we (the proletariat) could have freedom as well as material well-being, but I'm just not certain that something like Anarchy or Leftcommunism would be able to adequately deal with counter-revolution. The problem is, I think, that there would always be the chance to achieve greater material wellbeing for one person or a small group of people with a capitalist system of economic organization, but only at the expense of the material wellbeing of others. A lot of people are greedy enough to want to destroy the revolution just for the chance.

The reasons why I am a leftist are scattered and varied, and it's really a combination of experiences and observations built up over time (I suppose you could say this about almost anything though). The basic idea is, however, that I think the system has problems that can't be solved without destroying its root: Capitalism.

Sorry for the ranty intro!

Well, the question you have to ask is why do you think a worker's state could fight a counter-revolution better? What would be the difference, etc.

Both would, theoretically, have workers' militias defending the Revolution.

Maybe compared Marxism vs Anarchism:
