I'm surprised scientists aren't getting radical at all! I mean, I understand of trying to position science away from politics, but this is an issue in which they need to radicalize if they wish to see their science to materialize!

Surely there are some good comrades in science and will be more in the years to come. Let's not forget though how many great people in science risked or gave their lives to aid socialist countries in their development. Many scientists are good materialists and can surely understand the need for a planned economy.

There's the problem right there. We don't have many years left thanks to climate change!
