View Full Version : Most disturbing movie ever?

Manifesto
6th July 2011, 01:06
My friend wants to watch as it says in the title and not sure what to suggest. From what I saw some people say, Philosophy of a Knife is the worst but I got that and it wasn't that bad. More like a very visual documentary than anything. The production values were just so low the blood looked more like red water and it just looked so fake. Not to mention it made no sense why Russians were in it. So anybody got anything?

i suggest you field this question here:

http://www.revleft.com/vb/group.php?groupid=684

edit: also, it's kind of impossible to determine what the "most disturbing movie ever" is, because different people find different things disturbing (obviously). However, I'll try to think of some and will post later.

I'm probably going to look like a philistine, but Eraserhead disturbed the shit out of me. David Lynch in general, though.

I was in shock after watching this.

Though its not the most disturbing move ever, i can imagine, it still is one hell of a trip.

how this kid didnt die during filming amazes me. All the explosions and bullets are REAL. those tracers arent fake, there was dudes with machine guns shootign over the kids head. Those trees were actually getting blown up. Also, a cow really gets shot in this film. its fucking harsh.

I was about to suggest this.

Antichrist was just unbearable. Everything about it suggested that it would be excellent, then... god. The characters were such unbearable fuckers; I absolutely adore Charlotte Gainsbourg, but by the end of Antichrist I wanted to punch her character in the face, she was so unbearably tedious.

Maybe I'm just overly simple. The movie "requiem to a Dream" disturbed me. I wasn't "right" for a few days after watching it. I am going to try and find the movie "Come and See." If I don't post for a few days. . .you will know I'm probably traumatized. ;)

Fun fact: if you understand Danish, the voice acting in that movie is terrible and almost ruins the whole thing.

If not for it's extremely over the top, campy narration FoD wouldnt be worth it.

ahaha, I watched this last night! It wasn't the first time I'd seen it, though. It's a good movie, really well produced and over-the-top. Quality new exploitation...just don't watch it if you're easily offended.

Vukmir was my favorite character. I loved the end...him clenching his fists in a pool of his own blood, muttering "THAT'S FILM!" with the crazy look in his eyes of a dying artist, lol

I don't think I could watch it a second time lol, I agree that it was actually a good film & was well made, although you know a film is fucked up when the err.. newborn scene wasn't even the bit I found most disgusting

I wouldn't say sheer brutality, that was just a movie I thought would have been disturbing. And have not seen either of them

What is it about and what makes it fucked up?From the wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Serbian_Film):
It tells the story of a down-on-his-luck porn star who agrees to participate in an "art film", only to discover that he has been drafted into a snuff movie with child rape and necrophilic themes. [...] Upon its debut on the art film circuit, the film received substantial attention for its graphic depictions of rape, necrophilia, and pedophilia. Also (plot spoiler):Later Vukmir shows Miloš another one of his projects: a film of Rasa helping a woman give birth to a baby girl; Rasa then proceeds to rape the newborn in what the director calls "newborn porn".I think there's probably worst stuff around though. As Explosive Situation said, it is kind of relative and subjective as regards the most "disturbing" movie.

EDIT: there is, in fact, an IMDb discussion on films more disgusting than A Serbian Film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1273235/board/nest/177454932?p=1

I wish I'd read that before actually seeing it.

Someone I knew wanted to see it, as he'd heard it about on the internet or something, so I lent it to him and afterwards he said, "wow, that movie raped my soul."

High praise.

True. What they did to that infant was horrific. Also, at the end when they are burning those thousands of bodies along the river :(

Did you see the first one? It's about Unit 731, a Japanese concentration camp in Northern China (Harbin) where they conduct all sorts of gruesome experiments on prisoners.

I was thinking about Lynch and I realized that you absolutely have to watch Inland Empire at some point. I would suggest watching it after having seen a few of his movies at least, though. Rest assured, that will be a horrifying and disturbing (as well as patently absurd) experience in and of itself.
