Police state RAAAAGE.

In my opinion, the democratic system (as it should be) works roughly as follows:

People elect others to represent their opinion, and negotiate with other reps that disagree.- politicians
They set up public institutions, distribute funding and resources. - the state
However, they are always being controlled by the people, and all authority is checked.
The role of the people is to elect politicians and monitor them, whereas the state regulates national and internal
affairs based on this monitoring and constant public assessment. Everything the state does must be authorised by a majority of the people,
and be open for negotiating with the minority to reach a "golden mean".

Now, the police is an organ used by the state used to enforce laws which were, ideally, proposed and/or approved by the people,
and set down by the politicans in their name. Therefore, they should enforce the people's laws, and not the will of the state should that will
contradict that of the people.

Therefore, once the police stops acting on the behalf of the people, as enforcer of the people's will, but rather acts as a means of
intimidation to prevent real democracy and public action, it's role and credibility is forfeit and it must be seen as a reactionary force opposed to the will of the people.
The state therefore must also be assessed by this means. If power gets too centralised and unchecked, representatives and organs do not fulfill their duty and function, and it is the responsibilty of the people to get off their couch and act on behalf of their community, and thus themself.

Most of this stuff is actually in the American constitution...which is quite funny as America is probably reactionary police force no.1.

Now, if you could just get rid of the state and replace with a type of people's council, where every one has a real say, so that direct democracy is possible, that would be great.
