Comrades,

I have my brother's instrument, so I am trying to learn by myself. But I am stuck with chords - I am not able to remember them.

Is there any memory trick here by which I could remember the chords? They're the most important, so getting stuck here is frustrating. For instance, I may know C major but my fingers keep searching for them and am not able to do it spontaneously.

Any tricks/techniques will be appreciated. EDIT: By trick, I mean something like this: let's say D major is hard to remember. One can remember a triangle-like shape while playing it, that way even if one forgets the keys, the triangle shape will remind us of them.

Regards,
Guna

Practice. A lot.

You'll find your own little tricks as you go, but practicing is the only way to ensure memorization.

I don't play piano as a main instrument but when I play guitar and I'm learning the chords and how to jump between them I just try to remember the shape of my fingers. If you memorize the shape, then for a little while you need to play slowly and make sure you put the shape in the right spot but after some practice it just falls right into place.
