After reading some articles about it, I bought it. What should I expect? I read the introduction and so far it seems pretty concentrated on Greece and France. Glenn Becks petrified paranoid review amused the hell out of me. What am I in for?

top heavy insurrectionism meets academia proza, very cool if you are into that shit (i found weed helps me getting into that vibe) but not all that its made out to be.
there are way better contemporary insurrectionist works out there, "at daggers drawn (http://theanarchistlibrary.org/HTML/Anonymous__At_Daggers_Drawn_with_the_Existent__its _Defenders_and_its_False_Critics.html)" being the first that comes to mind.
but, yeah, still worth reading if you have some time extra

It looks interesting enough but I'm afraid some of it will be lost on me considering I'm not 100% proficient on the situation in France and Greece

Read it a couple of months ago. Pretty good read especially in the beginning few chapters, but then towards the end their ideas seem to become into a survivalist/isolationist commune thing.
Either way I recommend it. I would also recommend "The Case For Socialism" by Alan Maass. VERY good read.

its basically all about france, actually. the first few whatever the chapters are called deal with the different forces in french society, then there is a kind of "what to do" section that is more interesting but basically just posits drop outs + scamming

With all the "hype" surrounding it, I wasn't impressed. Academic insurrectionists who I felt were overly pretentious...
It's a fairly small book, so you won't lose any time reading it if you are still interested.

I thought the giving advice on conducting the insurrection was fairly good, but the first part was indeed rather pretentious and overly scholarly.
