View Full Version : Bush in the UK

George W Bush is coming the the UK on 19th, 20th and 21st November. There is to be a big demo in london on the thursday of that week and loads of demos up and down the country on the wednesday. Please get involved however you can, encourage other people to take part in the demos. This isn't just about Bush and iraq, it's american imperialism, it's Blair being a lap dog, it's Blair talking about NHS "reform" and top up fees, it's everything that is wrong with the world (well maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but only a slight one!!!).

Does anyone know if he is going to the North East? If he is whereabouts?

They have released very little from his schedule for security reasons but there is a strong rumour / fact that he will be staying in Buckingham Palace at the request of the Queen so there will be some sort of boycott and protest outside fuckingham palace over the three days. But I do not know more specific details - check out CND or stop the war coalition.

just outta curiosity how many of you live in England and are planning to go protest. I wanna come up from Wales with some friends and join in anyway I can, but its sorta hard when I don't know enough about it.
Can someone please fill me in?

Don't just rely on CND or STW to do something....everyone go there yourselves, even if they havent planned anything....get loads of your mates and promote your own demonstration....go and show the bastard that he is not welcome!
EL OBiSPO
13th October 2003, 16:14
I'll be trying that. Most of my friends just hate America though because they're 'after oil'.
They weren't complaining when America bombed Afghanistan after 9-11. Even if that served its purpose in angering more arabs and getting more (even if it was only a handful after vengence) to join Al Qui'ida (spelling?)
Anyways. My point being, my friends aren't as into it as me.
"Yeah, I like Che I have a t-shirt"
followed by
" :o Castro's evil! he kills people and oppresses them"
its just so....damn..... *bangs head on table*

I think that I will be going down on the 19th with a group of friends for the first day of his visit.

Who is at univeristies? Petition your student STW coaltion to organize university occupations and if they dont want to do it, do it anyway. Organize walk outs of your school and work.
An Anarchist group is trying to organize a massive mooning at him. Try and do something big. Think big guys. If you feel that the best you can do is to get a few friends then call your local STW and try and get on a coach to London...it pains me to say it, but the SWP i know are organizing coaches. Maybe you can get on one of them. They are usually pretty cheap for those with no dosh. Imagine if we had 2 million on the streets like 15th Feb that would really give that twat of human being a message that he is not welcome in this country, GOD I HATE THAT MAN!

I could *TRY* and get a walk out from college though I don't think it'd be that successfull. Though I know alot of my friends are still in school and they'd organise walk outs. I've still got my heart set on going up there if there's going to be a protest.

Stop the War seem to be concentrating on the Thursday (20th November) as the day of the protest, they say that it will be a shorter march than usual with more emphasis on speeches and readings.

The people in my town are saying they want to stop London as much as possible and make it really hard for Bush to move around. they want to make their presence felt.
Collective
30th October 2003, 10:01
I think the actual idea for the Thursday rally is less speakers and more music and entertainment.
We will organise a national demonstration in London (assembling at 14:00 hours) jointly with CND and MAB. This may take a form that will be slightly different from recent demos - e.g. fewer speakers, music or some other form of entertainment rather than our two or three hour rallies which may not be the best idea for a weekday.
mentalbunny
30th October 2003, 17:05
Ok. Please can anyone who works or goes to school or college in London organise a walk out, tell people at school you get free music and you miss lessons, what more could you want?!!!!!

Have been asked to post this..
Info has come to our attention concerning George W Bush's state visit, because one of his expected meetings has been cancelled due to those in authority not being able to prevent a security breach, he has been invited to go along as a guest of honour at the Police Annual Gala dinner awards at Merchant Taylors Hall, Threadneedle street in the City of London on November 20th (6pm).
But don't tell anyone ;)
Edited because I can't spell...

moodymike, thats a shitload man, but i think we have to remind ourselves the more important point of WHAT AFTERWARDS??
we can do all teh screaming and shouting but, whats the fuckin point?
a better outcome of thsi is to meet others and discuss properly viewpoints and then organise. the protest itself is not the end of it, its jsut a good opportuuniy to find others and show them how its a direct link to capitalism and all its evils...
ORGANISE!
