I don't know if this is the right section, but it'll do.

I want to get a hold of a plain red and a plain black flag. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy them. My arts and crafts skills are non existent so I would rather buy them than make them.

Just go to a craft store and get two large sheets of Black and Red cloth ..find an old pole and glue and you are sorted.

And then get a wildcat stencil and spray it in the middle with while spraypaint.

Orgasmic.

There should be a few shops in Edinburgh where you could get them. When I'm out next then I can have a look for you. I tend to keep an eye out for flags and stuff anyway. If that doesn't work, then there are plenty of websites that sell flags. This is probably the cheapest you'll get it online:

I've looked for these flags before but they're kinda hard to come by.

EDIT: Damn, I read your post wrong. Plain coloured flags are easier to get a hold of. I'll have another quick look.

First hit on google, plain flags 3'x2' for £3.49 and 5'x3' for £4.99, both with eyelets:

Well if you have the cash you could always get your flag tailor made which will be better quality with the trim on the side and the hoops to feed a rope through.

EDIT: Did post a link but was beaten by rooster :D

Would you really pay extra for a plain piece of cloth if it was sold as a 'flag' ?

I would recommend heavy-duty staples more than glue.

It'd be a lot cheaper if you just went to a crafts store and bought a black cloth or nylon sheet and a red one and just cut them each diagonally and sew them together and then you'll have not one but two flags

The pieces of cloth that are sold as 'flags' are generally better fit for purpose as flags cause they have the reinforced trim and holes up the hoist. It would be awkward to make these at home cause they have metal hoops.
