What are your thoughts on it?
My opinion:
A good book and enlightening, but short on references and slightly repetitive. It is also quite short, and doesn't focus so much on media control as it does on American foreign and domestic policy, which turns into a rant by Chomsky.
It will definitely make you think twice next time the news reports on terrorism.

Manufacturing Consent by Ed Hermann and Chomsky is an in-depth study on media control and corporate bias. They lay out a paradigm that's testable by any reader. Read the book and apply the theory next time you watch the corporate news.

...I was talking specifically about Media Control
I should have prefaced my previous post by saying that I agree with your evaluation of Media Control and so recommended Manufacturing Consent because it has references and focuses entirely on media control.

Media control is rather brief--- another Chomsky pamphlet.
The best quote out of there is: "Propaganda is to a democracy what brute force is to a dictatorship."
But x359594 is right--- Manufacturing Consent is a better in depth analysis, so is Necessary Illusions: Thought Control in a Democratic Society by Chomsky

Media Control is a good introduction and it gets to the nitty-gritty. Manufacturing Consent is basically detailed analysis and specific history of the aforementioned book, and well worth reading. I enjoyed both.

No point in reading Media Control if you already read Manufacturing consent. I think Chomsky wrote it with the intention of people who didn't have enough time on their hands/wanted to make the point in a shorter, more concise fashion.
