Sorry for the stupid question, but it's been on my mind. Would it be possible to have people "work for you" but let the workers make decisions democratically and spread the profits of the business evenly to the workers and yourself as opposed to making x10 more than the workers purely because you "own" it? I'm probably not wording my question too well, but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to ask.

I guess you'd call that a cooperative so there's nothing wrong with that at all.

It's funny because I was just having a discussion like that with a conservative, and they can't seem to understand how that would work. I don't see anything wrong with that at all, and was actually arguing for your position a couple of minutes ago =]

It sounds nice but the fact is creating a business to interact in a market helps perpetuate and legitimize that market. I don't really have a problem with you starting a cooperative as an earlier poster called it but do not think that it advances socialism and democracy. It does not address class struggle, only walks around it a bit.

That said I'm sure any time and resources spent on creating such a venture would be better spent to the ends of our leftist causes.

cooperative is a good way to make buisness in a more democratic way.

RevLeft?

Oh really? And you think revleft makes profits off the labor of others??

Countless times this board has come close to folding because it runs on donations and limited ads.

But be sure to perpetuate that strawman this site is all about making a buck.

I think it's important to note. Being a member of the bourgeoise does not make you a hypocrit for being a communist, just ask Engels. Running your business in a more "democratic" way also doesn't do anything to help us further our goals as communists.

Depends. I own a small buisness (i have no other workers it's just me) and I don't find anything hypocritical about that. I hate wage labor, so I no longer do wage labor.
