On June 16, delegates at the 100th annual Conference of the United Nations International Labour Organization ("ILO"), who, at the beginning of the Conference were encouraged by ILO Director-General Juan Somavia "to commit to a new era of social justice," adopted new international standards on the labor rights of domestic workers, one of several classes of workers in the new "precariat" that labor unions hope to organize on a global scale.
