Well i saw Tarantino's latest today, well half of it part two is out in Febuary 2004, pretty good movie lots of Kun Fu action and no CG like that crap the matrix uses. blood and limbs everywhere decapitations and impalements. its been rumoured over 450 gallons of fake blood were used during the movies. only letdown was the lack of the great dialouge that made Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs classics. But fun movie all together left me wanting more damn you Tarantino i have to wait till febuary for the next one :(

I have to hold back the tears when I hear the name of that motherfucking film!!!!!
I was SUPPOSED to be on the fucking set!! I was SUPPOSED to go out drinking with Lucy, Uma and Quentin after the fucking shoot!!!!!!!
But noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo - GOD HAD TO BE A FUCKING DICKHEAD TO ME ONE MORE TIME AND MAKE THE GIRL THAT INVITED ME HAVE TO TAKE OVERTIME AND THEN MAKE TARANTINO CLOSE THE SET PERMANENTLY THE FOLLOWING WEEK WHEN I WAS SUPPOSED TO GO CHILL WITH THEM!!!!!!!!!
MOTHERFUCKINGFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!!!!!!!! :(

seriously - I am probably going to be in a bad mood untill that fucking movie stops being shown and goes out of production on DVD - I get so fucking angry every time I think of that............ :(
--- G.
p.s. large parts of the film were shot in Beijing - does any of it happen in China? The girl that worked on the set said it was mainly set in the U.S. and Japan...
truthaddict11
10th October 2003, 23:22
most of the movie takes place in Tokyo and Okinawa only short parts in the US but i dont know where the second movie is set. here is a bit of trivia the set they used for the tokyo cityscape was from the last godzilla movie in 2001.
no mention of china

I wage Jihad on Uma!!!!! ;)
BTW - the stories I heard from the make-up crew don't make me doubt the 450 gallon claim for one second! One time I called the girl I knew on the set and she said: "Man - EVERYONE is fucking dead except Uma - I have never in my life used this much fake blood on an entire movie - let alone two scenes!" :)
Sounds fun!

this is why i love tarantino his sense of humour like in the first act when "The Bride" (Uma)aka "Black Mamaba" is fighting with Vernita Green (Vivia A. Fox) aka "Copperhead" and they are taking a break from fighting for some coffee  and Vernita is making some cereal for her daughter in the other room and the cereal is called Kaboom. Look for a painting on the wall that looks like splattered blood behind Uma in this scene. Well they are talking about when they will fight and Vernita leaves the room for one minute with the cereal box puts a gun in it and tries to shoot "The Bride" with the gun in the cereal box. Since the cereal was called Kaboom i found that really funny.

That was a fucking brilliant movie. It reminded me of a Japanese movie I saw recently called Versus, which you will like if you liked Kill Bill.
But yeah, great movie. Best sound effects of all time. Can't wait until February.

:P Sounds like QT has some pent up rage in him...poor fellow just needs to express his anger in a creative way hence Kill Bill and other productions...that and perhaps some mental irregularity where violence satisfies his crazed psychopathic murderous tendencies...*phew too many big words...time to put that dictionary away*

pent up rage? Tarantino is a movie geek he never graduated from high school and worked in a video store before becomming famous. he is probally the best director of the past decade his films are some of the best ever made. i highly suggest you watch Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction again and study thier greatness.

I saw it last night and it was greeat. Gory as hell...but good good fighting. You know how Tomb Raider's fights all sucked, cuz it was all blurry. This had great fighting scenes, all the women are beautiful and could fight but Lucy Lui kinda sucked at fighting. And I personally don't find Uma that attractive...she's okay and yeah she has weird looking feet....boney. I think Lucy is really beautiful tho...

Are the fight scenes copycats of the Matrix?
From Charlie's Angels to The Rundown, everyone's ripping off those cool stop and go wire-fu moves nowadays...
truthaddict11
19th October 2003, 14:38
Kill Bill is original, Tarantino shared the idea with Uma Thurman during the filming of Pulp Fiction. Matrix used CGI for thier fight scenes Kill Bill doesnt. the only thing related to Charlies Angels is Lucy Lui being in this movie. How dare you compare Kill Bill to garbage like Charlie's Angels.
suffianr
19th October 2003, 16:57
Ooh, touchy!
I'm not comparing, merely lamenting that the post-Matrix action genre is saturated with loads of copycats and parodies (like Underworld)...Just wondering if someone like Tarantino might have been tempted to "borrow" a little of the so-called stylistic elements, so to speak... :)
truthaddict11
19th October 2003, 19:01
he was more influenced by old Kung Fu movies for Kill Bill thats why Uma Thurman wears a yellow jumpsuit I think its a reference to an old Bruce Lee movie. I dont think he borrowed from The Matrix, in fact he has said he hated those movies.

Kill Bill was so good!!! I loved the gore and the samurai swords. The sword play was almost up to lone wolf standards(ultra violent 70's samurai series). The manga cartoon thing was very cool.Personally i think its up there with Romper Stomper,a clock work orange, resenvoir dogs(spelling) and varios other ultra-violent movies which are my favorites besides asian martial arts films.
We need more X-tremely X-teme violent films!!! Fuck the sensertive!!!
Btw didn't that dead shit Wes Craven walk out of one of Tarantinos films because it was too violent?

Finally saw the film, and I'm fucking amazed about it! Really, it was even better than I expected it.
It's somehow scary how beatyful and esthetic excessive violene can be in a movie, if it's set up like QT did it...
And fuck everyone who is saying anything bad about Uma Thurman! She is so adorable in Kill Bill there couldn't be a better choice for the role, it's so cool to have such a cool and strong female main role in an action movie like Kill Bill, instead of the usal Schwarzenegger muscle men.
Is anyone here a real movie geek? I know there are a lots references to other movies in Kill Bill, it would be intresting to know more about it. QT said most of the ideas for the movie are just stolen from other movies he likes...Hatori Hanzo for example is a charcter from a Japanese Kong-Fu TV series from the 70s, right?

I didn't enjoy the film as much as I would have liked for some reason.I was not expecting the film to be like it was. It is rather different from his other films. The dialogue was poor compared to his other films, and I see no reason why he would have chosen to do that. I think you may have the right idea.

I think that Tarantino was very influenced by Siergio Leone in this film. I think he achieved exactly what he wanted, and I am able to see the validity of his efforts, the style just doesn't appeal to me at all.

I do like the style, but Kill Bill did it rather poorly. I would say it was marginally worse than Jackie Brown, although more original.

Its a good film, but as a director he will not deserve the respect he gets if he continues to make films like Jackie Brown and Kill Bill. Its a good film, but not as great as Pulp Fiction, I think you can criticise him because you would expect him to make more than one or two great films. Kill Bill and Jackie Brown were just too far removed from the quality of Pulp Fiction. Its harsh, but on a man making million$ I don't think it is too harsh.
