I'm sure none of us will get Elaine's surprise. I was like "oh, she's dating a communist. Big deal," since, you know, I'm a communist.
I really like Seinfeld, but to try to pick it apart is silly. I mean, it's all just IRL Seinfeld just trying to find quasi-real life situations that could be arranged into a long joke. Not that anyone was picking it apart or anything.

Did The Daily Worker really have an ad for single comrades?

He was reading the Daily Worker in the 90's? And he embraced the USSR, PRC, and Cuba? And he also liked being compared to Trotsky? What a revisionist commie noob.

Yeah - if anything, this is a neat, compact summary of what older Americans know about communism. (I say "older" because I'm having a hard time finding anyone under 30 outside of college who knows who Marx was).

There's a lot of teens I know who sort of know who Marx was... well, they know him as some "evil commie guy" or something like that. They don't know anything about what he says, but they refer to any form of communism as Marxism in order to appear smart.
The episode is... I guess better than it could have been. Not too accurate, but he's not portrayed as an evil guy bent on destroying the world , so that's good.

I love that episode because Kramer got into communism, too. At the time, he was a Santa Claus at a mall and he was spreading the word about communism to little kids. One "reactionary" kid called him out and he got fired. It's great! That shit cracks me up.
