In this thread, I will log any mod actions from now on.

Also, I would like to make a note on this forum and how I will moderate it. The description reads:

A place for indepth discussions on Marxism, Socialism, Communism, Leninism, anarchism, and other politically theoretical topics.

Of course, this is not very specific. Typical "Politics" discussions often move into questions of theory. Likewise, initially theoretical discussions rarely ever last long before moving on to more practical political applications. It seems fair enough to say that most of us would agree that this is partly inevitable, because it's not in our nature to consider theory and practice in isolation from one another.

Still, this Theory forum is separate from others for a reason. I therefore expect posters to try and keep discussions in the theoretical sphere as much as possible. Posts with practical examples will not instantly get moved to other forums, but please try to take some kind theoretical conclusion from them, something that we can specifically discuss here. That's basically all I'm asking; it's too much effort and too authoritarian to make very specific regulations on what kind of content you can post here.

The description also mentions "in-depth". Note that this does not have to mean "long"; a short post can convey a message just as well. However, I will be rather strict when it comes to irrelevant bullshit. I don't think any forum is right for that kind of thing, but I am only the mod of this one, and I will not allow any threads to devolve into shitty sequences of sarcastic side comments. This (http://www.revleft.com/vb/dprk-2nd-happiest-t156503/index.html?t=156503) is a particularly awful example from Politics and of the sort of thing that I will almost certainly move or trash when I see it. More than in many other forums, you are expected to consider whether your post is useful before hitting the button. However, once you've passed that test, sharp debating is both allowed and encouraged. Speak your mind whenever you want, just don't cross the line into the kind of bullshit that deserves to be trashed.

I'm not a big believer in punishment, and it's too much of a bother anyway, because mere local mods like myself are not given the awesome internet power of handing warning points to people. I also don't think that people deliberately spam up the board or post things in the wrong forum most of the time. You'd have to fuck up pretty badly to give me that impression. It is only in such rare cases, when I think that someone is determined to stink up my forum, that I'll bother asking the global mods or BA to actually punish people. Quite frankly, I really can't be arsed and I don't like constantly trying to get people warned or banned, so please don't make me.

So anyway, to sum things up, please don't feel worried or offended if I trash your post as "Spam" or move it elsewhere, or when I ask you to stop doing something or another. I assume good faith, and if people post "spam" here, it's usually just a mistake. This thread will be closed so it will only contain my updates. Any questions can always be asked by visitor message or PM.

Note for new users whose posts are still moderated: I try to check for posts that need to be approved a couple of times per day. If your post doesn't get approved immediately, please be patient; it rarely ever takes more than a day for me to do it, and otherwise there are global mods who will do it eventually.
