Has anyone wonder why the hell we put up with patent laws. Another example of capitolist oppresion. The fact that there are laws that would prohibit me from making or using a device that someone else has already made is completley couterproductive to societey. In a socialist or communist state I think this should be one of the first things we do away with. Think how much more we could acomplish if we wernt held back by this capitolist law.

well, i guess there would be no need for them if there weren't authorship rights, or sth...

I half agree with u Ryen, In socialism/communism things would be very different, i dont think there would be any use for patents with everything being centralized.
It is a nasty capitalist idea though, It enusres that for certain products you HAVE to pay top price because there is no competition.

Hard to believe the concept of the patent even exists in American amongst the higher-up companies. Just look at the products there are on the market.

7Up creates lemon-lime beverage. Coca-Cola follows through with Sprite. Pepsi-Cola follows through with Sierra Mist.

Local vendors mix Vanilla w/ Cola. Coca-Cola markets the idea with Vanilla Coke. Pepsi-Cola follows through with Vanilla Pepsi.

Same deal w/ Cherry.

It's as if the world is completely out of new ideas. If you don't believe me, just look at some of the regularly scheduled prime-time network programs. Reality tv, sitcoms, etc, etc, all stink of the same old crap.

I agree. I believe in the full sharing of knowledge. Fuck patents, how can someone own an idea?

I remember US firm contending for patents of "Basamati rice "a kind of fine grain which India has been cultivating far before the word "patent" was invented

Another US firm wants patent on turmeric . We, Indians have been using turmeric in food, as cosmetic, and also as an anti-biotic more than 3000 years.

They keep looking like foxes for a chance to exploit the thirdworld countries and earn a lot of money . I think Americans are born -business men;)
