Hm, this is my 1st post here...so...hi everybody! Anyway, got a question, i heard that Sweden has a great social standards (only heard), and that they are slowly&peacefully progressing to socialism.
Is it possible that they, or any other country just develop into communism (Marx’s theory and stuff)?
Or am i just getting it all wrong?

Sweden is a capitalist country, period.

Like all the western European countries, Sweden is regressing towards a more ruthless--they call it "competitive"--economy. This also includes "scaling back" the "welfare state".

Type in Sweden in the search engine (bottom of the page) in this forum and the Politics forum for more details; a number of people from Sweden have posted here about this stuff.

In general, you will find that the question of a "peaceful road" to anything is very controversial here.

Welcome to the board.

welcome to che-lives.
Socialism occurs through a revolution of a violent nature, i think even if a socialist party got elected you should expect violence from bourgeoise resisting.

i believe that eventually a country can become socialist peacefully if not tightly restricted
example: the US could never become socialist while Sweden possibly could, or Finland
as long as a country is allowed to follow a natural path towards socialism, it will happen, it may be a slow process, but it will happen
capitalism will destroy itself

i guess im controversial Redstar :D

agree with RedStar,

if you believe in the antagonistic nature of classes then u will beleive that there is no other way than a violent revolution

As for sweden, the fact that it wishes to join the Euro (the govt) will show how unsocialist it is.

It can be argued it is a moe progressive capitalist nation than america, however, that is only down to fact of workers pressure, which is now fighting back agaisnt what RedStar has alreaday mention, the curtailing back of the welfare system

No matter what the standards are in Sweden, profit will remain supreme over life. The Swiss banks are a haven for corporate fat-cats across the globe.

Sweden and Switzerland are to separate, distinct countries that are geographically far apart. A Swiss is not a Swede.

Sweden is as capitalist as any other country, one country will never reach socialism or whatever without all the other nations, because the other nations will never accept as a capitalist country, a socialist country next to them.
