What content management system do you prefer and why? And could you briefly post your usercase, if applicable. I've included the most popular ones in the top, towards the bottom are the less known ones.

As for me, I prefer Joomla as it is easy to use and can easily be extended for new functionality. It has a low learning curve (lower than Drupal, but somewhat higher than Wordpress I guess). I use it for the website of our group (http://socialisten.net).

I've used Drupal now for several sites for activists and commercial purposes. It's highly configurable and can be used for news sites, internal forums and other things besides. The main downside is that it is probably too flexible for simple purposes, it's built-in search system is absolutely horrible (though this can be disabled and google or xapian used instead) and it can be a bit of a resource hog unless aggressive caching is used.

I did pretty heavy code modifications of wordpress in the past to try to retool it for purpose (something that can mostly be done with modules in drupal). The code was a god awful mess. I've heard it's been rewritten, but hopefully not by the same person who wrote it the first time.

That said, wordpress has nice looking themes, and from a user perspective, it works very well as a relatively simple CMS.

I only used Joomla briefly, but decided that drupal was more what I wanted in terms of allowing me to perform the specific tasks I wanted. Since there is a relatively high cost to learning frameworks, I've just stuck with drupal and haven't really looked back.

I've used most of the CMSs out there, and my preference is Joomla, mostly for the same reasons Q mentioned. I find that someone with limited coding experience, like me, can fairly easily modify the CMS to suit my needs or the needs for whomever I'm building it. I'm also trying my hand at Wordpress, but it seems really bulky and complicated in comparison. Personally, I like the fact that I can manage my Joomla sites through my phone, if necessary.

I legit have no idea what Joomla, or what a CMS, is.

EDIT: Oh, is this like Blogs and stuff? If so, wordpress. kinokinomozi.wordpress.com

Not exactly that. Blogs can be one implementation of a CMS, but a CMS is broader. I'm specifically talking about a web CMS though:

A web content management (WCM) system is a CMS designed to simplify the publication of web content to web sites and mobile devices — in particular, allowing content creators to create, submit and manage contents without requiring technical knowledge of any Web Programming Languages or Markup Languages such as HTML or the uploading of files.

Has anyone played around with ocPortal? Its website features some interesting design concepts, but after some initial fiddling it feels somewhat more primitive than, say, Joomla.

Also, can someone move this to Non-Political? I guess it fits better there.

No. There's an Android app called "Joooid" that lets you log in to the admin section of your Joomla site and make small changes to the presentation and content.

Oh, that is pretty neat :)
