i have to say that at first i was biased against him, but once i met ronnie and he made me listen to his stuff i fell in love with it. mainly lay lady lay and the hurricane. both of those songs are just "WOW." i dont know, maybe people will disagree with me but those songs are just powerful. lay lady lay i say is powerful because it reminds me of love... hahah well im a hopeless romantic! yeah so does im sure other people like bob dylan because, as ronnie says, "hes the fuckin man!" yeah, he loves him... but then so do i now.
THANK YOU RONNIE! for introducing me to bob dylan!

yeah, I used to really dislike him because he is a very arrogant man, but he makes beautiful songs indeed.

I consider "Masters of War" to be the best anti-war ballad ever written - it physically gives me goosebumps when he goes off with these lines:
"You've thrown the worst fear - that can ever be hurled - the fear to BRING CHILDREN INTO THE WORLD!!! You're threatening MY BABY - unborn and unnamed... You ain't worth the blood that runs through your veins!" - Masters of War
That basically sums up my feelings towards Bush and his illk - and the WHOLE SONG is full of incredibly powerful lyrics like that! Check it out...

that happened with me too, ..my dad likes Bob Dylan so I thought it was going to be some outdated, rockless stuff but I just realized as of late, he's pretty good!

Well I've been listening to Dylan since I was very young because my dad listens to him quite a lot. I was re-introduced to Dylan couple a years back when I started listening to music more seriously and listen to the lyrics. My favorit Dylan song at the moment is Chimes of freedom
Dylans official site (http://www.bobdylan.com) is worth checking out. It has all the lyrics and also a snippet from every song available for free.

Bob..... he certainly was a good writer, but I have much greater appreciation of his works in the hands of someone like hendrix. Jimi's rendition of songs like "Like a Rolling Stone" and "All along the Watchtower" are, in my opinion, much better than the versions done by dylan himself. But that's not to say that dylan is no musician- he certainly is.
got this album on lp http://bobdylan.com/images/albumpic/89/blood.jpg

he is great, my favourite song is probably 'forever young' i hear that and i think of my nephews.
i recently went to one of his concerts but i was less impressed with him, he's old and he obviously sounds very different i wish i never went.
'dont think twice' is good as is

If some of you like Bob Dylan, how many of you like The Band? At times a little more country and a lil less rock'n'roll, but still, not bad. I only own "Across the Great Divide" and I've heard most of "Rock of Ages," but I'm aware that Dylan did certain collaborations with them... :redstar2000:

Hmm...
The whole song is, like, one chord. (okay, it's got two more at the end of each verse, you got me.) Personally, I don't think it's one of his better songs. I presume you were introduced through Rage Against the Machine?

There's a great movie called "The Last Waltz". It is The Bands final concert. The people who show up and play with them is sort of a who's who in music for the time. Great film. Dylan, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton....etc, etc.
The Band was Dylan's back up band for years.

Excellent stuff. If the dead could have ever covered this, you would have the best song ever on your hands, period.
I just found out the early Wailers did a "Like a Rolling Stone" cover. Interesting.

Actually, the Dead covered "subterranean homesick blues" last summer with Dylan sitting in on vocals.Of course it was the "post-Jerry Garcia" Dead, but still pretty cool.

Bob plays the Jimi version of All Along the Watchtower in concert these days.

Blowin' in the Wind, The Times They Are A-Changin', and Maggie's Farm are my favorites. Though I would agree that in some cases covers of Dylan tunes are better than the originals, I still prefer to go to the source.

Too many acts aren't coming to the states much anymore. I understand though, just disappointing. Clapton hasn't been over here in a long while, and the last I heard bob was around wasn't too recently either. Oh well..
Some bird told me that the doors are gettin back together for a tour. of course, without the lizard king, but has anyone heard about this?

Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of the Doors are on tour right now w/Ian Astbury of The Cult on vocals. They're touring as The Doors of The 21st Century, but all of their US shows are over. They just have a few shows left in Europe.
