Ahh, another history essay/report of mine...
This one is on the cold war, vietnam, and korea...
I'm fine with the research and history of the subject, but the professor wants us to address specific questions as well.
How did the cold war affect the world as a whole?
how does the problems of the cold war era remain an issue for the world today?
Thanks for any help

Effects on the world at the time - (this is a very western view)
Conflict - Vietnam, Korea, spread of communism and capitalism
Fear - Nuclear age - annihilation at the touch of a button
Propaganda - growth of importance of the media
(fear and propaganda could be classified as social - the effects on society)
Increased government role - president becomes more important
Economy - becomes increasingly militarily dominated, harm to the social services because of spending
Politics - trend towards the right win - Thatcher, Reagan, Nixon
Continued effects today
Conflict - Iraq, Yugoslavia - Croatia, Kosovo, Albania, Serbia
Politics - movement of parties away from a left wing stance - tarnished image - new Labour
Economy - fall in economies - America, Britain - military spending is no longer needed - cut in jobs, new competitors enter the stage ... but at the same time there is the opening of new economic markets
Social - some rebellion against american ways but in general a trend towards supporting america and the 'Allies' because of their manipulation of the media

Those essay guides were off the top of my head so don't trust me on the accuracy of them but they should act as a general guide for you to fill in with facts and specific details that you have from class.

Sounds good ... but just don't overload on the conflict issue because the Cold War had effects in all arenas. If you do then the essay may become biased on issue heavy.
