My name is Nikhill and I'm a Communist from India. I'm a Marx-Trotskyist, but I'm also a realist. I believe sustainable communism will come through slowly changing policies rather than a fervent, hasty revolution

Your ideological leanings, I think, are geared less towards scientific socialism (marxism), and are closer to more utopian views, such as old labour in the UK. One of the bases of marxism is that socialism can only be brought about through revolution- you can't be a marxist without believing in revolution.
A non-revolutionary attitude to socialism has been shown to be less effective than being "pro-revolutionary". It is still being shown, here in the UK, with the right-wing tory party making the largest ever attacks on the welfare state (free healthcare etc), because the nature of utopian socialism allows right wing parties to periodically become elected, and destroy all of the good work done by leftists. As a result, scientific (revolutionary) socialism is the only effective way of creating any communistic society, because utopian socialism is too vulnerable.
anyway... Welcome!!!

No problem man, I'm new to this whole leftist thing so anything anyone can teach me is appreciated, since I'm still learning I'm open to criticism. What I'm unclear about, however, is how the revolution would remain dedicated to the proletariat, instead of becoming a state-capitalist dictatorship.

It isn't a Proletarian Revolution if it doesn't involve the Proletariat. With such a broad question and such diverse tendencies here you are likely to get a plethora of different answers on the subject.
Welcome to the boards though.
