I've read it. Certainly not his best work. Skip it if at all possible...

and Impress your teacher:When he says "The horror, the horror," he is really talking about his girl back home: "The Whore, The Whore." Seriously.

lol. there is no way i can skip it.. i've already read it! <_< but the thing that sucks the hardest and blows me out of the water is that she doesnt want us to read it, or read it once... she wants us to read it THREE TIMES! yeah, i can barely stay awake through reading it once, and that's that i like it. reading it again could possibly kill me... well no, i exaggarate, but not about the three times thing. yeah so i have to reread chapter one and answer questions on it by tomorrow... <_<

I like the way he does some characters, but it is so fucking dense!

haha i couldnt agree with you more. which is why i find it odd that my teacher would pick the book she calls "the hardest book we'll read all year" to be our first non summer reading, reading assignment. yeah but we all love her so we forgive her anything. *shrugs* but what i really like is his use of the surrounding environment. i guess it "romantic" in that way, but i mean it in the strictly english teacher version of the word!

haha. I want to hear what some of our resident "literature experts" have to say about this novel, given that they've read it.
