the EDL doesnt have a "pro Isreal Stance", they just carry isreali flags so that when idiots like UAF call them Nazis then they can go "but we dont hate jews." however the truth is that despite what UAF morons say, the EDL arnt Nazis, they are a Populist Nationalist movement, not a national socialist movement.

Is that based on their general contribution to antifascist threads or is that just from this post? Because the user's quite right on the EDL and on his criticism of UAF, a professed anti-fascist group which happens to be a matter of interest on a 'leftist' discussion board, which is also doing us no favours on many fronts.

Yes the EDL is not technically fascist but so what? It is still a very reactionary organisation filled with football thugs and hooligans, among other reactionary elements. You don't have to be literally fascist to be significantly reactionary.

I'm not saying UAF hasn't got any problems, but it's rather sectarian to be almost defending the EDL against accusations from the UAF.

Nobody is "almost defending" EDL scum here, but UAF is many places is more like part of the problem that solution. Not talking about their rank-and -file, more about their leadership. But anyway, we are derailing the thread now, it wasn't about UAF.

I don't think any of us has said anything otherwise. You don't have to brief me on the EDL, I know their character to know that they're a bunch of dicks that need moving against.

Whilst it is getting very concerning that they are attacking anti racist, antiwar, anti cuts ect gigs, stalls and meetings its shit like this that gets my blood boiling.

Maybe its time for the UAF to reconsider their populist approach to anti-fascism and start living up to a little of the militant rhetoric of many of their supporters.
