So...how about it RevLefters...
I got the idea from this ridiculous thread... http://www.revleft.com/vb/white-nationalist-comparing-t156454/index.html?t=156454
And it got me thinking...what kind of dog would I like to be when I grow up. Now I want to know yours....also tell us why!
Here is a list of dog breeds: http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/breeds/All~1.aspx (http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/breeds/All%7E1.aspx)
I'll go first:
http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/breeds/1100046/
A border terrier
http://dogbreedsinfo.org/images/Border_Terrier.jpg
Not only are they really tenacious...they can burrow and get their prey....but they are always hugely overestimating themselves and do not shrink back from attacking larger dogs if they feel threatened.
Their bite is definately worse than their bark...which can be annoying in itself. They can be very nice and cuddly and they are loyal. And they are overactive and inquisitive.
Describes me perfectly. :) Only with more hair (the dog..not me)
So...your turn...

That's true as well. It's all in how you handle them as pups. The Tibetan mastiff was actually bred literally hundreds (if not thousands) of years ago by Tibetan shepherds to protect their flocks from predators... So naturally they're known to be highly territorial and wary of strangers, but they're extremely loyal as part of that same breeding and can be rather friendly given proper socialization and careful handling. You'd definitely need to be an experienced dog owner to do it properly, but it's not impossible.

I always thought I had more in common with felines but if I had to be a dog I'd really like to be a Saluki. They look like a cross between a greyhound and an Afghan hound, are fast runners with good stamina and incredibly intelligent. They traditionally shared food and sleeping quarters with the Bedouin Arabs and were trained to hunt in teams, co-operating with falcons.
What I'd probably end up as, however, is something small, loyal-to-family but vicious-to-intruder and the same plain brown colour as my hair.

No such thing. There's no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners. When mishandled, even a Labrador retriever--the quintessential family dog--can be an anxious, aggressive nightmare. Look at it this way, nobody thinks of golden retrievers as being aggressive or nasty. Rather, most people think of them as being constantly happy, playful, and great with small children (all of which is true btw). However, they're ranked 3rd on the list of reported biting incidents in the US because they're generally nippy by nature and there are a ton of people out there who don't educate themselves well enough on how to handle their dogs. This is something I've never understood in the case of goldens, btw, because I've owned them and they're super easy to train because they're also really eager to please and highly intelligent.

I'll bet you any money that they are that high because more people own golden retrievers. But yeah all dogs bite but how many people have you heard of getting killed by Golden Retrievers or chiwawas or pommeranians, not many. That's because dogs like that are not built to inflict that sort of damage. On the other hand an Alsation or a Bull Mastif or a Rottweiler are built to cause damage and most of the time their attacks cannot be explained.

I'd have to go with a Siberian Husky. They just seem to love life and have no worries at all. Plus, if they're raised right, they can be a great mix of dog and wolf.

http://www.bonfoto.nl/hondenfotografie/saarloos_versus_wolf/mediafiles/wolven_005.jpg
This is a Saarloos Wolfhound. They are a cross breed between wolves and domesticated dogs (Germand Shepherds) intended to produce a better working dog which combines all the positive traits needed for that from the Shepard and combine it with the greater stamina and strength of the wolf. They look awesome. And they are bred in the Netherlands.
The Germans thought so too. They thought they looked fierce...and thy wanted them for guard duty. So they went to Leendert Saarloos (the guy who bred them) and they confiscated the dogs. When they shot a gun to see how the dogs would react...they all scattered and ran with their tail between their legs.
Turns out the breed is almost completely useless as a working dog. They are extremely shy and and anxious. The big whimps under the dogs :) unless they are in pack....they are extremely sweet though and very social....and extremely intelligent.
On dog exhibitions its always tragically hillarious to see so much anxiety and nervousness in dogs...walking legs bend and tail between their legs. :)
Also...this is a Dutch shepherd dog
THis is the rare variety....only a few hundred left...they are working dogs.

... As you can see there are some dogs which are clearly aggressive and dangerous. They have been bred to be killers.
Or, people buy certain types of dogs with the aim of teaching them to be violent and aggressive, based on how a particular breed is perceived. It doesn't mean the dog is inherently violent, but violent people will buy a staffy or a pitbull cause of its fighting associations. It's all about how you raise the dog, I know someone with a staffy that is the softest dog I've ever seen.

Ok, fine, have it your way. I guess I like to pass myself off as tough guy, but the truth is I'm really a big ol' softy... Which is why if I'm being completely honest, I'd probably less likely wind up a Tibetan mastiff and more like the kooikerhondje (and I say this with a small wink and nod to the OP) which is highly intelligent, sensitive, and capable of learning just about anything:

I like that dog Praxis.. what is it?
It's a kooikerhondje (pronounced KOY-ker-hund). They were originally bred by the Dutch as bird dogs for duck hunting, but not in the usual way. What they did was run along the bank wagging that long shaggy tail... The ducks would get curious about the motion, follow the dog and get led into a trap the hunter had placed. You kinda can't tell from the pic, but that black on the ears is really just a lock of fur that grows naturally extra long, and they're about the size of an English spaniel, maybe slightly smaller.

Those big droopy jowls (the product of generations of breeding for exaggerated type) need a lot of attention, cleaning, etc., to prevent bacterial growth and mould. Nice.
I much prefer its fitter, more handsome Italian cousin, the Cane Corso:
