Given the current political attitudes? I beleive this country could someday become a legitimate social democracy, but anything beyond that may not be possible, even if it were desirable.

What is it about current political attitudes that prompted this?
What do you mean by legitimate and why would it become so?
And why might anything beyond that not be possible?

My opinions on the political views on the average American not withstanding...if attitudes did not change dramatically over periods of time revolutions would never happen.

Any political attitude is a reflection of standing economic conditions, meaning they are always malleable and open to dramatic alteration. A great deal of political change is feasible, it is just dependent upon the rate of alteration seen in economic matters.

A HUGE ammount is desirable - as in getting rid of capitalism altogether and getting rid of or reeducating all the reactionaries. Not much is feasable at the time, unfortunately.

People are starting to become dissatisfied with the republicans and democrats, but unfortunately many of these people look to more libertarian options in change.
