This was well known.

The Stern/Lehi group wanted the British out of Palestine. They thought that with the Brits gone they could establish a totalitarian Jewish state.

So...at first they sought the aid of Mussolini. Which didn't pan out that well since he lost in Africa. Then they turned to the next contender, Hitler, in the misguided dream that he would win the war and defeat the English and force them out of Palestine.

Stern was a member of a communist youth group in the USSR an he started a socialist union and youth group. THat is his origin....just so you know.
