Hello, I'm new here. Just found this forum...somehow, a few days ago, I don't even remember how. Either way, a bit about me:

I haven't been interested in politics for a very long time. A year ago I was in a band, and the drummer was an anarchist of some sort (his views always changed), and at the time we'd argue perpetually over it because I thought that anarchism was just everyone killing everyone (stupid, I know).

In October of last year is when I got exposed to what anarchism and socialism and communism really are. Before, I was only going on what I've been taught in school (lies), and my parents (they lived in Romania under Ceausescu and let's just say that they didn't like it), so I naturally believed what I was told.

I haven't researched leftist stuff extensively, I'm only truly starting. I've only read Now And After: The ABC of Communist Anarchism, halfway through Conquest of Bread, read plenty of articles on the net, lurking forums, and talking to people. I think my political beliefs are rooted in anarcho-communism and around there.

Basically I've joined this forum to learn more, this seems like a great stepping stone for me, because I forsee a lot of information that I need to read and analyze. I have plenty of questions, as novices often do, and I come with an open mind and the willingness to learn.

That's about it. I don't know if any additional information is really necessary. If anyone has any questions I'd be cool with answering them, though. Happy to be here though, glad I found this place :D.

Welcome, Hivemind!

I really appreciate the openmindedness and intellectual/radical curiosity you expressed in your introduction.

Marx warned against developing social systems that capture and dominate their members, and somewhere compared such systems to social insects. In Capital I Marx wrote (slight paraphrase): "The bee puts many an architect to shame in the construction of her cells. But what distinguishes the worst of the architects from the best of the bees is this: the architecht constructs his structure in his imagination before he erects it in reality.

Learn much and bring your findings to the rest of us. Welcome!

Thanks for the warm welcome you guys! I'm sure that I'll be here for a long time; this place already feels like a second home to me. I won't post much, if at all, for about a week and a half, because I have a final exam to focus on, but after that: plenty of posting, and even more learning. Looking forward to this ;)
