I've read What Uncle Sam Really Wants by Noam Chomsky and I found it very interesting, critical, insightful, and very much packed with concrete sources. I would realy like to know Chomsky's views on different ideologies and his solutions to capitalism today. Does anyone know what I can read to learn this? I know he's not a communist and does not follow Marx, he's also obviously a bit of a liberal as well, but I would like to know more in depth. I would like to know what political theory he follows, why, and his criticisms of other ones. Can anyone lend me a hand here? Which of his books should I read?

Noam is an outspoken anarchist. If you want to know more about him and his politics, go straight to the source... Email him! He answers every email he gets, I have emailed him several times.

From my chats with him, I know he is very anti-Leninist, but hesitant to criticize Marx. He says "I am not a Marx scholar, and I feel I cannot pass judgemet on his theories." He knows a great deal about anarchism and the like.

I sent him an e-mail about 4 days ago I think. He hasn't returned it, but I'm hopeful.

this is one of my favorite quotes by him
I think it only makes sense to seek out and identify structures of authority, hierarchy, and domination in every aspect of life, and to challenge them; unless a justification for them can be given, they are illegitimate, and should be dismantled, to increase the scope of human freedom.

I read every new Chomsky interview that comes out. They usually go straight to Znet (http://www.zmag.org), and wind up in their mailing list.
I have only read a couple of his books, Secrets, Lies, and Democracy and Manufacturing Consent. The former is a small book of interviews by David Barsamian. It is a quick read and full of factual goodness. The latter is a lengthy study of the bias of the media. It is a must-read.
Chomsky is indeeed an anarchist. I have read one or two pieces where he was rather critical of Marx, and I know he is very severe in his criticism of the USSR. That is not the main thrust of his work, though. His best work is in revealing imperialism and domination, and reflecting how that is a complete contradiction of the rhetoric and the media of the world powers. In that role, he is absolutely brilliant.
