They also attacked Bethesda and 4chan recently.
Bethesda because they wanted more information about Skyrim and 4chan because there was talk on /b/ iirc of them attacking Lulzsec

The people behind it seem to be real assholes, judging from their twitter page; but gotta give them props on what they've done so far. As someone wrote what they did to Bethesda was like the scene in Fight Club where he hold the gun to the guy to get him to go back to finish his schooling.

Headline should read : CIA takes down it's own site to justify greater control over the internet, fits in perfectly with the numerous calls from public officials that the next great threat to our security is malicious hackers and therefore greater control over the internet is required, like taking candy from a baby.

And taking down the CIA website is such an achievement, eh- Name like Lulzsec makes it sound like a bunch of former 4chan arseholes who fancy themselves having moved up another level.

The CIA website wasn't even hosted on CIA IP blocks or their own datacenter, iirc. It was taken down by a medium-sized ddos attack, which isn't a all surprising form a technical standpoint.

It wasn't LOIC, but it was some form of DDoS.

Yes
Also, they're outted by a guy named "Jester" who's associated with the CIA
http://lulzsecexposed.blogspot.com/
He got their SS Id's phone number pictures etc.
That was just the side-ops team though, the core team remains unidentified I believe.

Im pretty sure that they did originate from 4chan and kind of split away.
