I thought I could get by just lurking but it seems the forum admins delete 0 post users! I hope that doesn't skew your view on my genuine greeting. I became interested in communism and revolutions after I read Bhagat Singh's 'Why I am an Atheist,' in which he stated Marx's idea of a society. I thought to myself, 'I heard that name somewhere!' Anyways, since then, I have been interested in the world of politics. I'm still learning about communism and so far, the ideology seems nice but the application has been ugly. I fail to see 'real' communism in the world we live in today or before in the days of the USSR or socialist Albania. A lot of people died during communist regimes and I feel as if the only people that benefit from communist parties are the leaders.

Anyways, I will maintain my interest in communism and politics alike because I want to learn as much as I can!

Here's a Marx joke for you:
Your mother is like my thoughts on socio-economics...
Everybody gets a share :D

Welcome comrade, I'm Canadian too. Not all "leftist" believe in or support communist regimes. Try reading up on anarchism which is basically the rejection of hiearchy, government and capitalism in favour of liberty, equality and solidarity. http://anarchism.pageabode.com/afaq/secAcon.html is a great site to learn from.

The reason why those communist regimes failed was because they weren't real proletarian movements like marx insisted. they simply replaced the old hierarchy with a new one.
Just my two cents.

Welcome. :redstar2000:
