1. I usually dress like a hippy.
2. Hmm, well, I don't like to buy communist merchandise, so I guess that would just be the Free Peltier shirt I wear sometimes. I made myself a Ho Chi Minh shirt, but it looks like shit, so I don't wear it. Oh, and I wear hemp necklaces a lot.
3. No, I dress as I feel comfortable. And what I can find that's cheap.
4. Probably not. I wouldn't mind dressing like other people, if it was what I found comfortable.
5. I don't know. I've never been able to tell how others perceive me and I'm not particularly bothered by the concept.
6. I don't try to change the opinions of others with what I wear.
7. Comfortable - nothing but.
8. I don't care. :)
9. See #8
10. Aside from the Peltier shirt, not at all.
11. I try not to. It's hard to avoid brand labels on your shoes, though.
12. If a brand name charges more than $15 for a shirt, then anyone who peruses that label is an idiot in my opinion.
13. Clothes are clothes, I don't see why everyone cares about them so much.

1) Do you wear clothing that would be considered indicative of a popular culture you believe yourself to relate to?
No, the clothing I wear is not considered 'fashionable' by my peers, but I beleive it does relate a lot to my beliefs. It's old stuff, and I have Che shirts and stuff like that, which is considered pretty 'uncool' by some of my friends.
2) To the best of your ability could you describe what you relate to that manifests itself in your dress or appearance?
Well, I'm pretty laid back, as is my style of clothing, and very 60's. Not very commerical either...i try my darndest to not be commericial. I also don't put much thought into what i put on every morning. if it's clean and it fits, it works!
3) Do you base your dress on any sought of role model? If so who?
lol I dress a lot like Che! with old army pants, old army surplus, that sort of tihng. I used to be into hippy type stuff too but they got too commerica, but i've still got lots of old, falling apart bell bottoms that are years and years old, plus cotton shirts, and home made stuff.
4)Do you dress towards what you think is expected of your average popular specific demographic? Nope!
5) If your answer is in the affirmative to any of the above, how do you feel this affects the way others perceive you?
I really don't care how people perceive me in that sence. I try to have a fairly good impression upon people, but i don't dwell on it. I just try to stay clean and not smell bad on a daily basis (when in public) otherwise i really don't care how they react.
6)-And if you act out any of the behaviour in the above, what is your desired effect you wish to have on others (through the way you dress)?
I don't think there is much i want ot get across to others through my clothing, unless i'm wearing a Che shirt or something like that.
7) How does your dress/ the way you dress make you feel?
I don't really pay much attention to it. I dress without conciously being aware of any emotional feelings i may have about it.
8) Would you say your dress portrays that of an individual or one trying to assume a group identity?
Definetely an individual. Knowing most the people around me, at school, in town etc etc, there's no way i want to go out of my way to comform with them, especially considering many of their ideologies differ from mine. I want to have my own opinions and be expressive in my own way, so I thus avoid trying to do what everyone else around me does, in the sence of fashion.
9) Are you trying to assume a group identity or show your individuality?
Definetly show individuality.
10) How do you feel you express yourself through your dress?
well, some of my shirts have slogans, and show political ideologies on them, such as my Che shirt, and some of my other stuff is just clothing i'm comfertable with, and that I myself, find fashionable. I don't want to be looked at like every other prissy girl in Roxy jeans, with bleached blonde hair, so I dress in things that i feel represent what I like. I have an old pair of Cargo army pants from the korean war, I find it comfertable but also making a statement. No one else has stuff like that anymore, it's old, and cool.
11) Do you wear “branded” clothing? If so do you wear these items of clothing because they are made by a particular brand/s? If so, why did you select those brand/s especially?
I don't wear brands.
12) Do you think people who wear branded clothing are superficial or exercising lack of judgement? If so, why? If not, why not?
I dunno, a lot of the time it is out of superficiality, but the majority of kids i know just don't know any better. They are so caught up with trying to fit in, that they buy into whatever is selling well. It's a bit of both.
Good luck on your assignment! :)

Thank you so much for your honest answers, I must say that it is all very intersting to see what your answers were; I am sure I will be able to come up with lots of very interesting insights when trying to interpret the data.
Practicly my project is due for monday so this post will loose that specific purpose on Sunday, but it is queit interesating to read through those who didnt mind to post publicly. Thank those who participated for participating, as stated earlier please if your seeing this post for the first (or something else'th time) and havent replied in some way, please give it serious consideration. Thanx again
also I would be very appreciative if some more capitalists and or some people who kindof have a more pro band opinion or mentality would answer? It would be nice to see something from the other side? COME ON LOKNAR, I know youve seen this post, it would be nice to have a perspective on the other side of the political spectrum (slapping hand against head, I should have included, Political label/classification: although its pretty evident it would be nice to have clear view of whta views come form where, from now on, if ur a capitalist filling this out, could you please just say so at the top or somthing, that would help a lot)

1) Do you wear clothing that would be considered indicative of a popular culture you believe yourself to relate to?
Yes
2) To the best of your ability could you describe what you relate to that manifests itself in your dress or appearance?
Normal British casual clothes and often American hip-hop style.
3) Do you base your dress on any sought of role model? If so who?
American rappers and also just what normal British people my age wear.
4)Do you dress towards what you think is expected of your average popular specific demographic?
I do not make a particularly conscious effort to do this I don't think, but otherwise yes.
5) If your answer is in the affirmative to any of the above, how do you feel this affects the way others perceive you?
I think it leads others to perceive me as more acceptable in my appearance if they themselves subscribe to the same kind of fashion, otherwise it leads people to categorise me in the category i suggested in question 2.
6)-And if you act out any of the behaviour in the above, what is your desired effect you wish to have on others (through the way you dress)?
I wish people to see me like this as I enjoy this kind of culture to some degree.
7) How does your dress/ the way you dress make you feel?
It makes me feel confident and like I am expressing myself well.
8) Would you say your dress portrays that of an individual or one trying to assume a group identity?
I would suggest it is very much one of a group identity...
9) Are you trying to assume a group identity or show your individuality?
and that it makes me adopt a group identity.
10) How do you feel you express yourself through your dress?
I feel that I do not express my true character through my dress, my dress expresses the group identity I have adopted. Although I do retain my true character to a good degree through my behaviour.
11) Do you wear “branded” clothing? If so do you wear these items of clothing because they are made by a particular brand/s? If so, why did you select those brand/s especially?
I do wear branded clothing. I select brands that fit are related to the culture I subscribe to.
12) Do you think people who wear branded clothing are superficial or exercising lack of judgement? If so, why? If not, why not?
I do not think they are exercising lack of judgement but perhaps to some extent superficial. Although this culture tends to permeate into creating an individual identity for them.
Optional question:
Do you think the question of why people wear what they wear is a stupid and pointless query if so please elaborate on why you think so?
I do not think it is pointless at all, I think it is a study that will always be addressed by society as we look to anaylse ourselves and what we do, a science that is integral to our development (through criticism and the creation of new ideas) although this is perhaps the most important self-observation we make of ourselves.
Optional Question:
If you read the first optional question and disagreed rather thinking this is a good topic to look into, any thoughts to what insights we could gain from the answers of a questionnaire such as this one?
Largely in what I said above. In terms of this particular study of what we wear I think it is a cultural study. There is little else that I can say about it

1) Do you wear clothing that would be considered indicative of a popular culture you believe yourself to relate to? one could say that. most say i look like a follower of punk/metal music and that is true, but they also say i look like a satanist... not true.
2) To the best of your ability could you describe what you relate to that manifests itself in your dress or appearance? i come off as an angry person, but im not i just dont like talking to new people. also there are punk patches all over my sweater and my back pack has patches too (che, upside down flag, pantera, sublime, mudvayne), and my backpack is a part of my appearance!
3) Do you base your dress on any sought of role model? If so who? no
4)Do you dress towards what you think is expected of your average popular specific demographic? no, although people say i look like i'd follow punk or metal trends i dont dress like most punk or metalheads, or any other trendy group for that matter. but that is mainly because i dont care about what i wear to school and dont care about what others think of what i wear to school.
5) If your answer is in the affirmative to any of the above, how do you feel this affects the way others perceive you? others generally think i am unapproachable when i am actually pretty open to others, so long as i dont have to talk first that is.
6)-And if you act out any of the behaviour in the above, what is your desired effect you wish to have on others (through the way you dress)? hmm, if i act out in anyway, including my dress, and it is done on purpose, i am either in a good mood and am wearing clothes that i like but hardly ever wear, because its a skirt. or i am in kidding around mood and want to freak people out.
7) How does your dress/ the way you dress make you feel? depending on what im wearing that day it will either add to the feeling of "good" or add to the feeling of "not too happy" or frumpy
8) Would you say your dress portrays that of an individual or one trying to assume a group identity? individual
9) Are you trying to assume a group identity or show your individuality? neither, i just want to dress in a comfy way that i like and i dont give a great big poopy what others have to say about it. (i guess individuality)
10) How do you feel you express yourself through your dress? if i feel good on that day you can tell by if i did anything extra in the "getting ready" process (ex. makeup, skirt, "chick shoes")
11) Do you wear “branded” clothing? If so do you wear these items of clothing because they are made by a particular brand/s? If so, why did you select those brand/s especially? no
12) Do you think people who wear branded clothing are superficial or exercising lack of judgement? If so, why? If not, why not? no, because how do i know if that person doesnt seriously like what they are wearing? that and i dont have the keenest fashion sense in the world, so what do i care about how they look?
Optional question:
Do you think the question of why people wear what they wear is a stupid and pointless query if so please elaborate on why you think so? no, it all leads back to psychology and it makes sense that one would ask that question.
Optional Question:
If you read the first optional question and disagreed rather thinking this is a good topic to look into, any thoughts to what insights we could gain from the answers of a questionnaire such as this one? you could learn more about someone's self image and their views of other people. but you would mainly learn more about the person you're questioning because people give more than just answers when they do these things, they let others see a bit of what makes them tick.

1) Do you wear clothing that would be considered indicative of a popular culture you believe yourself to relate to?
Not really
2) To the best of your ability could you describe what you relate to that manifests itself in your dress or appearance?
No, I dont have a "style". I have some "popular" type of clothes mixed by cheap clothes without even brand. I'm not into taking my ideology into clothes because I feel it might scare some people and make the fascist assholes treat me like shit. But I may use some "politized" clothes some day.
3) Do you base your dress on any sought of role model? If so who?
Nope
4)Do you dress towards what you think is expected of your average popular specific demographic?
Maybe
5) If your answer is in the affirmative to any of the above, how do you feel this affects the way others perceive you?
I dont think people perceive my because of my clothes.
6)-And if you act out any of the behaviour in the above, what is your desired effect you wish to have on others (through the way you dress)?
That I'm one of them (note: this does NOT mean that I am a stupid cappie idiot, it is my way of getting close to people, they might support my revolution some day :P)
7) How does your dress/ the way you dress make you feel?
Not on a special way, i want confortable clothes, without a big cappie logo, and that look nice and feel nice.
8) Would you say your dress portrays that of an individual or one trying to assume a group identity?
Not sure
9) Are you trying to assume a group identity or show your individuality?
Both
10) How do you feel you express yourself through your dress?
I think I want people to think I dont really think a lot about clothes.
11) Do you wear “branded” clothing? If so do you wear these items of clothing because they are made by a particular brand/s? If so, why did you select those brand/s especially?
I have branded clothes but mostly "fashionable" things that most people use, but most products by such marks are really a disaster, and I buy the ones I really like. I avoid big brands like Adidas, Nike, etc.
12) Do you think people who wear branded clothing are superficial or exercising lack of judgement? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'd say some are superficial, some lack judgement, but some do it because they like those clothes.
Optional question:
Do you think the question of why people wear what they wear is a stupid and pointless query if so please elaborate on why you think so?
Not really, it can explain some things but it is not really important.

Individual in some senses, group identity in the sense that everyone wears cloths.
#9
When I was younger, I confess that I was trying to show identification with a group. Now I just dress in what I think is confortable. Occasionally, I'll make a political statement with my cloths.
#10
I think I can best answer that by directing you to question #9.
#11
No. Never, ever.
#12
I think they are uneducated. I think they are the products of consumerism that liberalism (Capitalism) has made them. Sometimes it is frusterating; However, it is really hard to get angry at someone for something that isn't entirely their fault.
Optional question:
I think it is an interesting sociological phenomina... So no I don't think it is a stupid nor pointless query.

1) i dress like a hippy/folkie.
2) i suppose that even though i don't dress like a completely stereotypical hippy people normally associate my style with leftist beliefs, peace and love etc, so i guess it does manifest itself.
3) no, i don't base my dress on anyone. i wear what i think looks pretty and makes me feel pretty.
4) not at all
5) people probably think i'm some commie hippy but there's pretty much indifference to the way i dress.
6) i'm vociferous in my opinions which intimidates people. but i don't seek to intimidate through my clothes. and it's not the clothes that does it.
7) probably worldly. at least that's what i try to exude. and i wear clothes that make me feel pretty.
8) it's impossible for someone to create their own style. you're always drawing on something else, being inspired by someone else. but i dress like an individual.
9) neither. i don't want to try to fit in nor completely estrange myself.
10) hopefully as a caring, sophisticated (as in knowledgable) person. i'm not a peacock, but image matters, particularly when appealing to others for jobs, friendships, advice, etc.
11) i try not to wear branded clothing. the only branded clothes i have are shoes and that's hard to avoid, because particularly with sneakers, it's pretty bad to get a 10 dollar pair of sneakers are your local k-mart. i have vans, new balance, and converse, but only because they're functional.
12) nowadays it's just plain superficial because people are identified by the kinds of clothes you wear, and the brands show your ability or inability to purchase "nice" clothes.
Optional question:
no. because clothing is innately a part of human culture and though you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover you can get a general idea of what is going through people's heads by what they wear, select who you want to interact with or not, etc. as forementioned, it's a cultural and subcultural study.

1) Do you wear clothing that would be considered indicative of a popular culture you believe yourself to relate to?
Yes other 14 year olds i guess
2) To the best of your ability could you describe what you relate to that manifests itself in your dress or appearance?
I relate to not giving a fuck what people think of me so maybe that explains why sometimes my shoes don't match my outfits. I don't really understand the question though :P
3) Do you base your dress on any sought of role model? If so who?
military people. no one specific. I have some bad ass combat pants but I almost never wear them cus I can never find shirts that match
4)Do you dress towards what you think is expected of your average popular specific demographic?
yes,yes I do. and no, sometimes I don't. It depends.
5) If your answer is in the affirmative to any of the above, how do you feel this affects the way others perceive you?
I don't really know cus I don't pay attention to what others see me as.*update* I just asked my bro and he said I dress like a white girl southern californian :o Whatever that may be?
6)-And if you act out any of the behaviour in the above, what is your desired effect you wish to have on others (through the way you dress)?
No! I don't act like a white so cal girl damnit! But I have this bad ass che belt buckle and I like it when people ask me "who's that guy on your belt?" so I can spread the greatness :D
7) How does your dress/ the way you dress make you feel?
I don't know I don't dwell on it.
8) Would you say your dress portrays that of an individual or one trying to assume a group identity?
aww shit. I hope not but I guess so :( I make the group damnit :P
9) Are you trying to assume a group identity or show your individuality?
Yes to the latter, but I don't do it through my clothes but by my actions.
10) How do you feel you express yourself through your dress?
Maybe it looks like I'm having an identity crisis?
11) Do you wear “branded” clothing? If so do you wear these items of clothing because they are made by a particular brand/s? If so, why did you select those brand/s especially?
Yeah, I do wear "branded" clothing but only because I don't know how to make my own clothes. Trust me, if I knew how I would! The only brand I look for when shopping really though is ADIDAS  sorry guys. my feet are only comfortable in shell toes, flip flpos or bare foot.
12) Do you think people who wear branded clothing are superficial or exercising lack of judgement? If so, why? If not, why not?
It depends. I hate all the kids who complain that they will only buy their clothes from a certain store, like Hollister. And only hang out with other kids that wear hollister. That is so lame <_<

1) Do you wear clothing that would be considered indicative of a popular culture you believe yourself to relate to?
...No I wear what ever clothes I feel comfortable in, which is usually a T-shirt, hoodie, and jeans.
2) To the best of your ability could you describe what you relate to that manifests itself in your dress or appearance?
My style of dress is made up of two factors I find necassary to life: Comfort, and usefullness.
Jeans are comfortable, and the Hoodie is useful because it's warm and I can hold things in the pocket
3) Do you base your dress on any sought of role model? If so who?
Hub(the bass player from the roots) was the inspiration for the hoodie(as well as the checkstick)
And huey Newton was the inspiration for the color black, which i try to incorporate in my daily attire.
4)Do you dress towards what you think is expected of your average popular specific demographic?
No, if I did I'd rock expensive jerseys and forces. The only popular clothing item I'd ever consider buying is either a throw back baseball jersey(but only if it was Negro Leaguge or a Stachel Paige Jersey) or a pair of Timbs. Other than those tw items I could care less about popular clothing
5) If your answer is in the affirmative to any of the above, how do you feel this affects the way others perceive you?
6)-And if you act out any of the behaviour in the above, what is your desired effect you wish to have on others (through the way you dress)?
7) How does your dress/ the way you dress make you feel?
It makes me feel comfortable. When i wear the hoodie I'm in my comfort zone.
8) Would you say your dress portrays that of an individual or one trying to assume a group identity?
Individual, sure other people wear black hoodies and jeans, but I wear it day in day out.
9) Are you trying to assume a group identity or show your individuality?
Neither. i have no need to stand out as an individual by wearing clothin. I'm also not trying to fit in with anyone based on clothing.
10) How do you feel you express yourself through your dress?
I don't, I express my self through writing and philosophizing. Clothing are just clothing. I have to wear them so I'd preffer to wear things I feel comfortable in
11) Do you wear “branded” clothing? If so do you wear these items of clothing because they are made by a particular brand/s? If so, why did you select those brand/s especially?
I happen to own one or two items of clothing at are brand name. However I didn't buy them because of the brand. I bought them because I thought I looked good in them. The name of the company that made them is of little concern to me.
12) Do you think people who wear branded clothing are superficial or exercising lack of judgement? If so, why? If not, why not?
This is kind of a double edged question isn't it? You are making it seem as if someone who buys clothing based on brand names is some type of moron. This isn't always the case, some people just happen to like clothing. People have the right to like different things, and it isn't our place to judge them.
I'm not hung up on labels myself, but I don't hate or insult people who are.
So really I think that people who wear and by brand name clothing are simply doing it because that is what they are in to.
Optional question:
Do you think the question of why people wear what they wear is a stupid and pointless query if so please elaborate on why you think so?
No i think it's a valid question, though I think it's more the type of question a Marketing Strategist would ask.
Optional Question:
If you read the first optional question and disagreed rather thinking this is a good topic to look into, any thoughts to what insights we could gain from the answers of a questionnaire such as this one?
What can be gained from this is just learning about how people express themsselves through clothing, why people express themselves through clothes, and why there is a mob mentality regarding fashion.
If you there is a problem with any of the questions please tell me, and please answer all if not as many of the questions the most the possibly can, thanx.
I think that question # 12 is a bit unfair and should be reworded
