Though I may not be involved in any organisation or party at the present time, I still make every attempt to get people in my neighbourhood reading and/or talking about Communism and proletarian revolution. Whether through casual conversation, lending books or organising "film nights" at the community centre, I try and help spark some healthy discussion and debate whenever I can. I am having a lot of trouble. Maybe I'm lending out the wrong books or showing people the wrong films, 'cause the discussions are still very hard to come by.
One question I want to put forth here, which is not my own, is: how do we go about disseminating the type of content that matters? A singular critique, but one which is subdivided into categories such as empire, economy, desperation etc?
Thanks for taking the time :)

Also, what of the many resources and critiques that we have at our disposal would be best for disseminating among the lower classes?
Thanks for taking the time :)

I believe "bumped" is the word I am looking for ;)

I think "spam" is the word you're looking for. It's a good question, but unfortunately, if people don't reply, there is little one can do about it. :( Repeatedly going "bump!" is certainly not advisable, so please don't do it again. For now, we can consider this another free bump. :p But seriously, don't make "bump" posts please.

Well Wanted Man, your bump certainly drew my attention to this topic.
I'm not an expert on this matter. I think you should ask some of the people who show up at the film nights. Just ask them, what would spark some discussion in here? You'll probably get a lot of answers that don't make a lot of sense, but maybe you will also get a couple of answers that can help your organizing.
As for my advice, although I am probably going to fall in my first category since I'm not familiar with your climate, you could show a couple of short movies with differing opinions on issues. For instance, show some youtube video with Slavoj Zizek and David Harvey, then align the seats so they face each other and ask the audience: "who do you most agree with?" If you are lucky, you will get two people completely opposed, if you manage the discussion properly, you will spark a lot of interest. This is just my guess though.
Good luck! :)
edit:
English is not my first language. If I don't make a lot of sense, just ask for clarification.

ColohanIsGod, I don't know (yet) what a "bump" is. Your topic just looked interesting.
In my experience, talking to people seldom accomplishes much or persuades. What works, if you can get it going, is an informed revolutionary/communal practice. Get a "communist" (community) practice going and then you can talk about communist versus capitalist relations. Get some form of community going and talk about democratic, communal relations. Get people involved in their lives; capitalism steals human creative powers and destroys community.
I find hands must become involved before heads will grasp new relations.

What is your goal? Are you trying to have a very intellectualized dialogue about some abstract and arcane piece of Marxist theory, or are you trying to organize people to make positive changes in their community.
Because depending on your goal, there are radically differing ways to achieve that goal.

Why not both?
