if its of any consolation, the fucker that snitched on manning, adrian lamo - ex hacker super star and security consultant, is in hiding because he ahs received many death threats. if there is anything interesting about the hacking community is a few things 1) they hate snitches 2)they hate the government 3) probably the mayority of them have some sort of mental illness. i hope some psychotic nerd on amphetamines makes him meet an interesting end.

Well not exactly... it is actually quite the opposite, many of them are snitches themselves: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/jun/06/us-hackers-fbi-informer?CMP=twt_gu

thats because a lot of hackers are teenager weiners. a lot of people in the activist left turn into snitches too. that does not mean the left doesnt hate snitches

ok. but i don't think any where near 1 an 4 lefty activists are snitches. If a quarter of a whole scene in funneling info to the feds than I think it is inaccurate to say that group "1) they hate snitches 2)they hate the government"
I just think that people idolize the hacking community a bit when in fact it is not made up of uniform political actors. Sure, there are segments that have some sort of united ideology -- but in general it is a wide range of folks -- folks who are apparently more susceptible than the general activist community to become snitches!

The Bradley Manning Chat Logs That Were Never Supposed to Go Public (http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2011/07/14/the-bradley-manning-chat-logs-that-were-never-supposed-to-go-public)

Man, the Bradley Manning story is one sad-sack case. Wired published today (http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/07/manning-lamo-logs) the full chat logs between Manning (a young unhappy transgender kid from small-town Oklahoma and the reason any of us ever saw that video of those American soldiers in Iraq shooting dead Reuters journalists from their helicopter) and the hacker who would eventually turn him in, Adrian Lamo. Lamo told Manning his secrets were safe with him because he was "a journalist and a minister" (oh man) and used Manning's "gender identity crisis... to win his trust," as Gawker puts it (http://gawker.com/5821227/hacker-who-turned-in-bradley-manning-is-a-bigger-scumbag-than-we-imagined). Manning faces more than 20 charges relating to illegally leaking classified documents and aiding the enemy, he's being held under humiliating conditions (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/06/bradley-manning-jailers-ritual-humiliation) at Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia, and my gut tells me he's never going to see a day of freedom for the rest of his life. He turned 23 this year. I haven't read the whole chat log yet, but I skipped to the end, and there's a kind of soliloquy by Manning there that kills me.
