I have to do a film review for a piece of coursework in English.

Anyone got some suggestions on some good films I could do?

I just did a pretty short scene analysis of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari a few weeks ago for one of my film classes (I did the first carnival scene). Definitely one of my favorite movies and a good one to write about, especially from a leftist perspective. What are the specifics of the assignment/what kind of analysis are you looking to do?

Andrei Rublev. :D

You're asking on revleft, you should surely get a Soviet made film. :p

The Battleship Potemkin is a great piece that provides plenty for analysis. Solaris is also another great work, though not in such an overtly communistic sort of way.

Buñuel's The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie. If you can handle surrealist cinema, as a leftist you ought to love it.
