Hello RevLeft,

I have been studying the Left movement for some time.

Recently I read the Communist Manifesto. I think Marx was a bloody GENIOUS!

I am also part of my countries Communist Youth Wing (Marxist-Leninist).

I'm from Portugal, and recently the Left was smashed by the Right-Wing... But the struggle goes on!

My respects to anyone serious about creating a Communist and Anarchist society, I take my hat off.

Hi, I'm from Portugal too. I live in S.Miguel, Açores.

I belong to the JCP. What the heck is that Communist Youth Wing?

Bem vindo :)

Welcome! How is the political climate in Portugal?

Welcome! How is the political climate in Portugal?

Terrible. We had elections not so long ago.

Left-Coalition (Bloco de Esquerda) was crushed and went from 9% to 3%
PCP (Marxist-Leninist) stayed the same at 6%

The right wing increased in votes and the first Austerity measure was announced yesterday.

- From 2011 onward, all Christmas subsidies higher than minimum-wage will be taxed 50%.

IMF and Right-Wing Coalition said this is just the beginning and much worse measures will be put in place.

Welcome, sorry to hear about the difficulties faced in your country. What, if any, steps are being taken to counter the austerity measures?

Strong union movement will most likely take place and there have been a few marches but nothing as powerful as I hoped. Portuguese people aren't very class-conscious and my generation is quite ignorant on political issues. It's sad.

At top of my head, I think we have around 4 to 6 pretty-active posters from Portugal (along with one or two from Brazil).

Welcome to the forums.

Do you like Maoism?

Not really. The revolutionary tactics are quite effective though.
